BILL BLOG Friday, September 25, 2026   Ready for the weekend?   It’s Friday. 78 for the high today in Nashville…comfortable.   RAIN We haven’t had any since I can remember. There are a lot of brown lawns in Nashville, and residents are being asked to cut back on watering by the folks in charge of water. My lawn is a nice shade of brown as well. The good news is, we’re saving on paying someone to mow the lawn.     YESTERDAY I sat down with Daryl Mosley and wrote a “smile” song from a little idea I had. Daryl has been the IBMA Songwriter of the Year at least once in his lifetime for Bluegrass Music. He’s a really good and “quick” writer.   More times than not, I’ll bring part of a song to him, and then I just sit quietly, and within less than 30 minutes, he pretty much kicks out the rest of the lyrics we need. BILL BLOG Thursday, September 24, 2026   It’s already Thursday, and the weather will be comfortable again in Nashville, with today’s high at 77.   YESTERDAY I spent a big part of Tuesday finishing up a song with Jerry Salley that has a cool Mexico vibe. It all started with a great song title Jerry came up with. We spent a long time working to get this one just right, as he’s working with an artist that he thinks would like this kind of song for his next album. Time will tell.       And we spent as much time talking as we did writing, and that was fun, catching up on each other’s busy lives.   I’m hoping that Jerry and I will share the stage on at least one show coming up at the Blast On The Bay Songwriters Festival in Port St. Joe, Florida, in the middle of October. BILL BLOG Wednesday, September 23, 2026   Hump Day!   And suddenly, it’s a lot cooler in Nashville. Today’s high will only be 71 degrees.   Meanwhile, there are frost warnings already for Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Wow.   And the folks in southern California are bracing for Hurricane Polo, a category 5 hurricane at the moment.   YESTERDAY I wrote with my friend Kristen Bearfield , and for the first time wrote with her talented boyfriend, Andy Davis . Kristen plays in the all-girl gospel group “ High Road ,” while Andy has traveled the world as a utility player (playing multiple instruments) for The Band Perry when they were huge, and now with the hit Contemporary Christian Artist Ann Wilson . So Andy has played in some very big arenas with some big folks     And it was Andy who brought a really fun song idea to the table, “ God Must Be Laughing .” Kristen knows me well, and she thought I’d be a great fit for this tune. ...

BILL BLOG Tuesday, September 22, 2026   And… It’s Tuesday morning, and it’s finally starting to cool down on the day of the Fall Equinox. The high will be 83 in Music City today, a welcome relief from the high 90’s we’ve had for such a long time. How hot has it been in Nashville? Well, last Sunday football cleats melted during the Titans football game, and one coach had to take an IV as the field temperature hit 157 degrees. HOT.     YESTERDAY It was a pretty lazy day here at the Whyte House as my writing appointment got cancelled, so I took the time to do that “catch-up” thing and work ahead. Over the next three days, I'll be at a charity event on October 7 for a great cause: Mercy Chefs , a group that provides food for disaster relief workers around the globe.    And then I’m gone for almost 10 days for two festivals on the beach. BILL BLOG Monday, September 21, 2026   Hello, Monday morning. I’m back home from a great Freedom Sings USA event in Paris, Kentucky. And it still has not cooled off in Nashville. Today’s high will be 94.   THE WEEKEND On Friday, our group of songwriters made the trip from Nashville to Paris, Kentucky. And our group did get to see the Eiffel Tower when we hit town.   We all thought it would be much bigger!   Paris, Kentucky, is located in Bourbon County, KY, and we found some of that bourbon on Friday night.     That’s the Bourbon Barrel Bar & Grill, where our group gathered for a GREAT shrimp boil with our organizers and the veterans we would be working with. Lobster, shrimp, sausage, corn on the cob, and more, plus a free taste of the bourbon if you wanted one.
