And… It’s Tuesday morning, and it’s finally starting to cool down on the day of the Fall Equinox. The high will be 83 in Music City today, a welcome relief from the high 90’s we’ve had for such a long time.
How hot has it been in Nashville? Well, last Sunday football cleats melted during the Titans football game, and one coach had to take an IV as the field temperature hit 157 degrees. HOT.
YESTERDAY
It was a pretty lazy day here at the Whyte House as my writing appointment got cancelled, so I took the time to do that “catch-up” thing and work ahead. Over the next three days, I'll be at a charity event on October 7 for a great cause: Mercy Chefs, a group that provides food for disaster relief workers around the globe.
And then I’m gone for almost 10 days for two festivals on the beach. Blast on the Bay in Port St. Joe.
Followed by MOTM, the big Parrot Head gathering in Gulf Shores.
ON THE CHART
The new song from Kristy Cox, “No Regrets,” that I wrote with Kristen Bearfield (whom I’ll write with later today) and Lauren Mascitti has found its way to #7 on one of the bluegrass charts, while “Another Teardrop In the Ocean,” from the group Grasstime, slipped from #2 last week to #7 this week. Thank you, David Pugh, for loving these two songs!
SONG OF THE DAY
Something fun today. Here’s “If I Could Invent A T-Shirt" from Jenny Tolman, which the two of us wrote one day with her husband, Dave Brainard. The thought behind the song idea that Jenny came up with was: what if each of us could invent a T-shirt and write whatever we wanted on it? What would you write? Health officials are warning of measles exposure at the Philadelphia International Airport.
A study shows that drinking has declined after the pandemic for Gen Z’s and Millennials, but has increased for older adults.
Another study concludes that aerobic exercise could help improve outlook after cancer treatment.

A bunch of guys went snowmobiling in Canada and came upon some moose. They stopped, and one of the guys reached out to pet a moose. The moose then attacked him and broke his leg.
Just stay on your sled, boys.
Or as the late Jim Croce once sang, “You don’t spit into the wind, you don’t tug on Superman’s cape, you don’t pull the mask off that old Lone Ranger, and you don’t ever pet a moose.” Or something close to that.

TODAY
I’m writing with Kristen Bearfield today, and her boyfriend Andy Davis that I’ll meet for the first time today. Kristen has been touring with her all-girl gospel group “High Road” and took time to see the sights, as you can see here.
