The Bluebird Show...Pet Marriage...Tourist Attractions

BILL BLOG Thursday, August 6, 2026   Thursday morning, a little bleary-eyed. We’re back in the heat again today, with a high of 91 expected in Nashville.    I was up late last night, so the Blog is being posted just a little later than normal this morning.     YESTERDAY What a magical night at the Bluebird Café for the 9 pm songwriter show Wil Nance , Mo Pitney, and Brady Seals .      The place was packed, as it always is with folks from far and wide, including a nice couple who made the trip from Alberta, Canada, just to come to the Bluebird Café. And I don’t think they went home disappointed.   Wil Nance kicked us off with the great song he helped write for George Strait, “ Where Have I Been All My Life, ” and also performed his smash hit, “She’s Everything for Brad Paisley .   Curb Recording Artist Mo Pitney sang “ Fiddle Around, ” which he wrote with Wil and a couple of great new tunes. Mo is one of the...

Cell Phone Problems...Been There, Drunk That, Bluebird Cafe Tonight

BILL BLOG Wednesday, August 5, 2026   Over the hump we try to go. It’s Wednesday. Warm today, with a high of 89 expected in Nashville.   YESTERDAY I wrote a fun “quirky” kind of song with Tim Stafford online yesterday. Something I had started, something he liked, something he polished and made better. True co-writing right there.     Tim has been the Bluegrass Songwriter of the Year in the past, and is up for that award again this year come October. You’re in pretty good writing hands when you’re in with a Songwriter of the Year winner, as well as being Best Guitar Player in that genre. Here’s an example of Tim’s guitar skills.     Always a pleasure writing with Tim.   PHONE HELL I spent way too much of my Monday trying to figure out my phone problems, because every app I touched wouldn't open. Guess what the phone folks told me? Yep. New phone time. I went from a 13 to a 17, but not without sitting for a long time transfe...

Geese...Bluebird Tomorrow Night...Fair Season

BILL BLOG Tuesday, August 4, 2026   Tuesday morning has arrived.   YESTERDAY I wrote a new song with my New Hampshire friend Rick Lang , who just happens to be up for the Songwriter of the Year Award this year from the bluegrass folks.     And later this morning I’ll write with another nominee, Tim Stafford . So I’m most surely writing with some talented folks.   Rick and I wrote a country-bluegrass kind of song yesterday, from an idea we had kicked around a couple of months ago. It was a fun day of writing, and even better day of conversation between the rhymes.   A ZOO I heard a lot of noise coming from outside the house yesterday. Turns out, it was these guys honkin’ away like there was no tomorrow.     Add the geese to the raccoons, squirrels, rabbits, turkeys, groundhogs, foxes, and a LARGE family of deer. We must have as many as 10-15 deer regularly lying out in our backyard. Every late Spring we get to see the n...

Back To School...Chart News...A New Show

BILL BLOG Monday, August 3, 2026    Welcome to the first Monday in August. And the weather folks warn that there will be more record heat coming at us all month. Although it’s not all that uncomfortable in Nashville today. The high will be 83 degrees.   BACK TO SCHOOL The yellow school bus will be rolling past the house today, as it’s the first day of school here. And yep, some Moms are celebrating.     THE WEEKEND Friday morning was spent writing with my talented friend Angus Gill , who had asked me to join him and a young artist named Brady Harris to write a song for an album project for young Brady.     I didn’t ask, but I’d guess Brady to be 19 or 20, full of that kind of youthful energy, with his whole world in front of him. I wanted to buy some of it.   Brady has a band in Mississippi, but he’s got eyes on Music City. I brought an idea he loved, and I’m pretty certain this song will be on the album he and Angus ar...
