Thursday morning it is. And it’s getting warmer in Nashville again. Today’s high will be 90. By Sunday we’ll be back up around 95.
YESTERDAY
I wrote with a great bluegrass songwriter yesterday, Mark Brinkman, who now lives near Ocala, Florida. Originally from Wisconsin, lived in Ohio for a while, and now he’s down in sunny Florida, where he enjoys the sunshine and writes a lot of bluegrass songs that are recorded by many bluegrass artists.
Mark, nicknamed “Brink,” made it very easy on me as he sent me a complete chorus. Before we jumped online yesterday, I sent him a first verse that he liked. So…all we had to do was write a second verse, and we made it a short day. Short enough that we could talk baseball, as he’s as big a fan as I am of the game.
He grew up a Milwaukee Braves fan, and we talked about Eddie Matthews, Hank Aaron, Warren Spahn, and other great players that wore that uniform. And when he found out that I got to spend time around the great Bob Uecker when I worked in radio in Milwaukee…he was pretty jealous.
So…it was a great day of writing AND baseball.
SUBTLE FREQUENCY
This is pretty cool. I graduated from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri…home of the “Fighting Mules.” It’s now the University of Central Missouri. This library is on the campus.
And guess whose book is now in my old college library?
Yep, my wife Kathy’s book “Subtle Frequency.” Pretty amazing.
SONG OF THE DAY
Since I’m writing with Adam and Amy Pope later today, here’s the first song I ever wrote with Adam, titled “Playing Patsy,” that he and Amy released as a single.
This one was born from an idea Adam brought to the table the day we wrote it. Still love this song.

The FDA has approved a once-daily pill for deadly cancer after patients’ survival rates doubled. It’s a new treatment for advanced pancreatic cancer.
Research concludes that limiting sugar consumption during the first 1,000 days of life, from conception through a child’s second birthday, may result in slower biological aging and a lower risk of cancer up to five decades later.

MORE ON DOLLY
100,000 signatures are on the dotted line requesting that Nashville International Airport be renamed “Dolly International Airport.” If you’re from Tennessee, it would be hard to vote against that. Tuesday night, the airport garages were lit up “pink” to honor her.
I was touched by the number of heartfelt tributes that are everywhere on the social network. I watched and listened to a lot of them last night sitting on the couch with the TV on.
And here’s a Dolly quote I had not heard before New York Post columnist Cindy Adams drew it to my attention this morning. Dolly once told Cindy, “I often get up at 3 A.M. because God gets up early.”
And then there’s this very funny quote Dolly gave Cindy regarding another celebrity. Dolly said, “Oh please, she’s had so many facelifts this year that she had to go to a proctologist for an ear infection.”

They have announced that no employee may display their tattoos. They have to be covered up. If a tattoo is visible more than once, that employee is fired.
No body piercings, no posts in tongues, no crazy colored hair, and no torn or faded clothing allowed.
So…does that mean they’ll never hire Jelly Roll if he decided he wants to put “brisket on the board?”

And I just realized, I’ve never once set foot in Delaware.

That’s Jaye P. Morgan, who just passed at the age of 94. And this is ironic. She was a singer with a list of hits. And I never knew that. I knew her as one of the judges on “The Gong Show.” RIP. And that makes me want to watch old “Gene Gene The Dancing Machine” do his thing right HERE one more time.
