BILL BLOG
Thursday March 6, 2025
Thursday morning and once again bags are packed and ready for a road trip. This time to Texas. A shorter than normal Blog this morning because of the departure time being so early.
It was flat-out cold and windy in Nashville yesterday. Winter’s last roar maybe before we get into Spring and baseball season!
Today’s high in Music City will be 50 degrees.
YESTERDAY
Last night I hooked up with Darin & Brooke Aldridge online. They’re in Cherryville, North Carolina but it feels pretty much like they are in my office when I pull them up on my computer screen. The two of them are getting ready to hit the Grand Ole Opry stage again. I think they’ve been invited over 50 times by the Opry to perform which is quite the honor to say, the least. And it’s part of the reason the three of us wrote “Grand OleCircle” which covers a lot of the history of the Grand Ole Opry.
Last night though we wrote a really fun duet that features some back-and- forth lines between the guy and the girl in this song. In this case that would be Darin and Brooke.
Their current album “Talk of the Town” has a couple of songs that I’m a writer on. “Wildflower Too” was a big single for them, and their next single, and the last one to come off of this album will be “Where You’ll Find Me” which I wrote with Lauren Mascitti and Kristen Leigh Bearfield.
One of the highlights from last year’s touring was getting to do a show with Darin and Brooke when our “Evening in the Round show with Linda Davis, Lang Scott, and myself worked with them on a show in Myrtle Beach last year.
Always fun creating, performing, and being around these two talented friends.
SONG OF THE DAY
Today I’m sharing “Old School Country” which I wrote with Jesse Vaughn who’s from Elsberry, Missouri where I graduated High School. Some dear friends of mine asked if I would write with Jesse as he was coming to Nashville for the first time with his parents. This song is the first song Jesse is a writer on. And now he’s recorded a new album that will be out soon and he wrote all the songs. So maybe I infected him with the writing bug. Either credit or blame me for that.
He performs our song regularly when he plays out in Missouri and it always seems to go over. I’m proud of this little tune and Jesse.
FUN VIDEO
My friend Kat Burg who’s from Australia and lives here now with her husband and little girl will be releasing a new album soon that will have 2 or three songs we’ve written together. Yesterday she posted a little video of her singing a bit of one of those “Wife Trial” that’s been a big hit for her whenever she performs it in her shows. A little edgy…but very fun…and some of the lines gets big laughs. Check out the TEASE of our song HERE.
HEALTH NOTES
In a new scientific paper, three physicians report that switching from bottled water to filtered tap water could cut your microplastic intake by 90%.
Experts say there are 5 ingredients we should cut because they cause anxiety, depression, and brain fog. Those ingredients are seed oils, gluten, artificial sweeteners, artificial food dyes, and MSG.
Green onions have been recalled by some grocers in several states over E coli concerns.
HERE’S YOUR SIGN
Now that’s a COUNTRY sign y’all.
VALUABLE CHEETO
Get this. A flaming hot Cheeto that looks like an iconic Pokemon just sold at auction for $87,840. The Pokemon character is Charizard. Or Cheetozard in this case. Don’t ask me…these things are way above my understanding.
All these years I’ve been eating Cheetos not knowing how valuable one might be.
MEANWHILE IN FLORIDA
A guy swallows $760,000 worth of Tiffany jewelry after posing as an NBA player. He was arrested and then asked if he was going to be charged for what was in his stomach. Duh.
The dude should have just eaten that $87,000 Cheeto instead.
HEADLINE OF THE DAY
We Hate Math’, Say 4 in 10…a Majority of Americans. (???)
TODAY
Off and rolling to Texas with Linda Davis and Lang Scott. Long drive today to get to Crockett, Texas where we have a show Friday night. And then a Saturday show in Marshall, Texas.
Looking forward to making music with friends in Linda’s home -state.
Have a great Thursday!
