Happy Hump Day from Austria. And look what we woke up to outside our window

YESTERDAY

Got a bunch of beautiful picture to share today of a little day trip that started with a balcony shot from our little rental place in Austria.

We made a journey over to Konigsee, a place my daughter Heather and our son in law Casey had been before and thought we might enjoy. It’s located just a few mile over the Austrian border.

Did we ever. It’s a beautiful spot on a clear lake surrounded by snow-capped mountain peaks. And the little village is charming. My wife liked this.

I pondered this…then passed.

There’s a boat ride we took that was spectacular over to a little island. Halfway over the Captain pointed out a rock wall they call “echo” wall and then he demonstrated how that worked by grabbing a bugle, standing on the edge of the boat, and playing some notes. After every little thing he played, you’d hear that bouncing back to you off that steep rock wall. Very cool. And then he passed down the aisle carrying his Captain’s hat working the tourists for tips. Reminded me of Lower Broadway, Nashville on water.

Getting close to the island you see this gorgeous church that looks like it’s sitting on the water.

Ancient…and you noticed that when you walked inside.

I have no idea what century…but it wasn’t a recent century.

We ate at a German restaurant on the island. And we saw this bad boy before we entered. Largest trout caught in the lake. 55 pounds!  They had trout on the menu…so of course we ordered chicken schnitzel.

The courtyards, the grounds, the mountains, the lake…awe inspiring and yet another place we would come back to.

My wife and I could not have had a better time, even though the weather made us wear heavier clothing.

And certainly is was great getting to share this kind of day with our kids.

We got back on the boat, returned the dock and it was then we noticed telescopes you could drop a coin in and see Hitler’s old place HIGH on top of the mountain. The infamous Eagles Nest. We would have loved to tour it but it’s closed until May, and we found that to be true of some other attractions here as well. Looking at it through the telescope I couldn’t help think about the conversations that must have taken place there.

Just another great day in Austria-Germany.

NEW SHOW

I’ll be headed back to Reba McEntire’s old place that’s been turned into an event center in Lebanon, Tennessee. This will be my second time there. It’s dinner and a show and I’ll be there with Victoria Venier & Steve Dean for a “Hits & Grins" show. 7 pm is the start time. For more info check my calendar/tour part of my website. Very cool place for songwriter shows.

IN ITALY
One Italian restaurant owner REALLY wants his customers to get off their cell phones when the sit down to eat. So much so that he’s giving customers a free bottle of wine if they ditch their phones. For those addicted the problem will be, how in the world will they be able to post a picture of what they’re eating if they don’t have their phone?

TRAVELING

Because of inflation, budget hotels are saying occupancy is 50% off right now. When things get tight, folks start cutting out travel and vacation plans.

GET THIS

A new poll, of all ages claims that half of all Americans have no idea what a 401K is. Nope. It’s not a marathon race.

TODAY

If the roads will allow, we’re day tripping to Admont Abbey which is home to a monastery, museum, library that’s truly incredible looking. My daughter and her husband has already been…and just this picture alone would make one want to see this.

Have a great Wednesday!

No Phone...Nurses Retreat...Show Sunday

BILL BLOG Friday February 23, 2024   Friday morning…let the weekend begin. Lot of sunshine in Nashville today with a high of 61 today.   YESTERDAY It’s amazing how much “catch up” stuff there is to catch up on after you’ve been gone for 5 days. And that’s pretty much what I did…checked of some of those “gotta” do’s and “need” to do’s" off my list. I was glad to make some of those disappear especially considering the fact that I’m going to be on the road a lot this year.   NO PHONE And my catching up slowed down a bit for several hours as we lost our cell phone service like a lot of folks did yesterday…especially those of us who are on an AT&T plan. One AT&T posted this picture showing what his life had become with no cell phone for over 5 hours.   AT&T says it was not a cyber-attack. It was on them apparently and they’re blaming it on a software update that crashed the system. And here I thought an update made things better.   W
