Back To Wiesbaden...Album Party...Freedom Sings USA

BILL BLOG

Friday April 19, 2024

Friday morning and I’m back in Wiesbaden.

YESTERDAY

Our family made the trip back from St. Gilgen, Austria to Wiesbaden Germany. We had a final farewell breakfast lunch with a view before we reluctantly left condo unit my wife Kathy found on Airbnb. Nobody wanted to leave that view of the alps.

Just incredible scenery in Austria everywhere we went. And it turns out that St. Gilgen, the little mountain town we stayed in was used for several scenes in the Sound of Music movie. You can see why.

On the way home we got all of Germany’s spring weather. Ice, snow, rain, and sun…back and forth it went all the way to Germany.

One minute you would see snow clinging to the roofs, the next not so much.

The countryside in Germany is dotted with a lot of church steeples.

But it’s also dotted with these poles that you see below. None of us had a clue what they were used for but we all guessed it had to do with some kind of plant being grown that crawls up those poles. Turns out they use them for hops…for beer. Duh. We’re in Germany!

And as we drove past Frankford you could not help but notice this building. It looks like a cruise ship in the middle of the road. A gigantic cruise ship. There’s a Hilton Hotel housed in this building and several other businesses as well.

We got back safely to Wiesbaden and had dinner at a favorite Thai place that our kids love. I’m not a big Asian food guy, but it was really good. We’ve got one more week to go before flying home and we’re making tomorrow up.

DARIN AND BROOKE PARTY

I did hate missing the album premier party last night in Nashville of “Talk of the Town”…the new release from Darin and Brooke Aldridge

The world famous Station Inn was packed last night with friends that included Lauren Mascitti and Kristen Leigh Bearfield who are pictured here with Brooke Aldridge.

Darin and Brooke got Lauren up to sing harmony on our song “Where You’ll Find Me” which is on this great new album. Just click HERE to listen to this new mountain song we wrote.

Congratulations to all my musical friends involved with this great new album!

FREEDOM SINGS

Yesterday I was e-mailed the song I wrote with and about veteran nurse Rachel Blankenship for Freedom Sings USA. My friends Jenny Tolman and her producer husband Dave Brainard sang the vocals on the song “I Learned To Laugh” (So I Can Cope). It could not have turned out better. Can’t wait to share Rachel’s song with everyone soon as an entire album will be released of 10 songs all written about our veteran nurses.

HEALTH NOTES

Researchers are claiming that “one-and-done” vaccines for the flu and COVID-19 could prove more effective and easier to craft than current jabs.

The WHO is warning that the growing spread of bird flu to humans is and ‘enormous concern’.

A new study says that exercise changes the brain in a way that helps heart health, especially for people with depression.

SAY WHAT?

I’m not sure Senior Citizens want this.

THANK YOU

To my friend Judd Williams down in Pensacola who sent me a picture of this T-Shirt. Now I’m just trying to figure a way to get Amazon to get it to me here in Germany.

HEADLINE OF THE DAY

Tennessee Man Tries To Rob Gas Station With 5-Foot Long Snake After Two Failed Attempts. Well, carry and conceal is legal in the Rocky Top state y’all.

TODAY

We’re making it up today. Staying close to Wiesbaden.

Things I’ve found out about Germany so far?

Gas is expensive. 8 bucks a gallon. They have traffic jams here too. You need to keep some Euro coins on you because you constantly pay to go to the bathroom.  There are lots of tunnels and roundabouts. And grape weed looks pretty in the fields but it’s a pollen carrying son of a gun. Don't ask me how I nose.

THE WEEKEND?

We’re planning on a trip to see Europa…and amazing theme park here that many compare to Disney World. Looks like Epcot don't it?

 Have a great weekend.

No Phone...Nurses Retreat...Show Sunday

BILL BLOG Friday February 23, 2024   Friday morning…let the weekend begin. Lot of sunshine in Nashville today with a high of 61 today.   YESTERDAY It’s amazing how much “catch up” stuff there is to catch up on after you’ve been gone for 5 days. And that’s pretty much what I did…checked of some of those “gotta” do’s and “need” to do’s" off my list. I was glad to make some of those disappear especially considering the fact that I’m going to be on the road a lot this year.   NO PHONE And my catching up slowed down a bit for several hours as we lost our cell phone service like a lot of folks did yesterday…especially those of us who are on an AT&T plan. One AT&T posted this picture showing what his life had become with no cell phone for over 5 hours.   AT&T says it was not a cyber-attack. It was on them apparently and they’re blaming it on a software update that crashed the system. And here I thought an update made things better.   W
