Thursday morning, I’m packed and heading back to Gulf Shores for this year’s Frank Brown Songwriter’s Festival. More on that at the end of today’s blog.
Just 68 degrees for a high here in Nashville today. 80 will be the high today down in Gulf Shores.
YESTERDAY
I was online writing with great bluegrass writer Tim Stafford, who was named Bluegrass Songwriter of the Year a few weeks ago. So, it gave me a chance to applaud him before we wrote a fun idea that Tim had.
I did not know that Tim did some impressions until yesterday. If you don’t follow bluegrass, you may not know some of these folks, but he was spot on with his Larry Cordle, Del McCoury, and Lester Flatt from Flatt and Scruggs.
I think I laughed more than I wrote yesterday.
SONG OF THE DAY
Since I wrote with Tim yesterday, here’s a song he and I wrote with another bluegrass artist, Becky Buller, that Nick Dumas recorded the heck out of. Check the song pick for today, “Details.”
HEALTH NOTES
Kids’ e-bike and e-scooter injuries are skyrocketing. Between January 2023 and March 2026, 13,000 young people were treated for bike, scooter, and skateboard injuries at six large hospitals in the US.
A study reveals that earlier sleep is tied to weight loss in people with prediabetes.
Cyberattacks have now hit blood banks in Europe as hackers target grocery store freezers.
HERE’S YOUR SIGN
Truth.
POWERBALL
Somebody in New Jersey is going to pocket whatever’s left of 847 million dollars after taxes from winning the Powerball. Congrats.
I’m pretty sure if I won 847 million? I wouldn’t care about whatever the tax was. I can scrape by on a measly 4 or 500 million bucks. I’m pretty sure.
IRONIC
That would be this true story, unfortunately, of a 97-year-old man who was dancing at his birthday party. Shortly after he danced to ‘Stayin’ Alive,’ he died. True story.
THE DOCTOR
I had a routine doctor’s visit this week. When I arrived, I had to read and sign an agreement that the Doctor’s office could charge me for being late or not canceling an appointment within 24 hours.
Hmmm…I love my Doctor, but if this is becoming a general rule at all Doctor offices, I’m thinking I should be able to get mine to pay me when I arrive early or on time and then sit and wait for 15 minutes or 30 minutes before getting to me. I’ve waited so long at some medical offices that I could have written a new song or three.
Does that sound fair?
QUOTE OF THE DAY
From Charles R. Swindoll:
“Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.”
TODAY
Off to Gulf Shores again, one of my favorite places. 4 songwriter shows this year, starting with a 5 pm songwriter show with my friend Brian White tomorrow at 5 pm at the Woodside Restaurant.
Always great to be part of the Frank Brown Songwriters Festival.
Have a great Wednesday!
