Tuesday has arrived.
We’ve hit (perhaps) the last warm surge for the year with today’s high in Nashville predicted to be 91 degrees. But this Saturday? The high will be just 64.
It’s that time of year. Which is why I’m packing both shorts and long pants for my run to the beach starting Thursday.
YESTERDAY
It was a lazy Monday at the Whyte House with no appointments, so I checked a couple of “do” things off the “honey-do” list. Never ending. I also spent some time rehearsing songs for those two festivals I’m headed to. 9 days in all, with six shows slated in Port St. Joe, and Gulf Shores.
FUN DUET
It’s even more fun if you’re a big SEC football fan, but this new video from Riley Green that pairs him up with Peyton Manning is fun, as they musically sing about the rivalry between Tennessee, where Peyton played Quarterback, and Alabama, Riley’s home state. And this weekend those two teams will play each other. Check out this VIDEO.
SONG OF THE DAY
Today, I’m choosing the song ‘Willin’ that I wrote several years ago with my friend Steve Dean. Originally, it was written for a guy. But one day while rehearsing with my “Hits & Grins” trio that includes Steve and Victoria Venier, it hit me how this song might make a great duet. And that’s how we recorded it on one of our albums. It’s become a favorite in our shows whenever we include it.
HEALTH NOTES
Several French Supermarkets had to be shut down after an AI attack heated up refrigeration spoiling tons of food.
A Quantas airplane that was to fly from Perth, Australia to Rome had to be shut down. Bedbugs. Yep, bedbugs were found on board.
An early human trial shows that a new belly fat injection cuts dangerous fat surrounding organs by 12%.
HERE’S YOUR SIGN
Just a little harsh?
FORGET DIPLOMAS?
For the first time in a very long time, young New Yorkers with college degrees are facing higher unemployment than those without a degree. Some are speculating that’s because of AI replacing white collar jobs.
If you play the stock market, now might be a good time to invest in trade schools.
SPELL CHECK THE CAKE!
Saw this in the New York Post. Some friends order a guy a Carvel Cake for his birthday. Here is the order.
Here’s how the cake turned out.
Geez. Fortunately, the recipient found it hysterical. AND they misspelled it as well!
They might want to turn cake making over to those New York kids who got their college diplomas.
HOMES
House listings are the highest they’ve been in 6 years. Some predict that most first-time buyers won’t be able to afford a home until the year 2031…if then.
That means it’s a good time to buy a house, if you can absorb the 7% mortgage rate.
I see more tiny homes being built.
BIG PUMPKIN
The big pumpkin contest takes place in Half Moon, California. This year, a guy toted his big pumpkin some 2,150 miles, from Minnesota to win.
That’s a big pumpkin. 2,389 pounds worth of orange gourd. He got paid $9 per pound for winning. So it more than paid his gas bill to haul it there…unless he was driving something with a diesel motor in it…I’m guessing.
SPEAKING OF HALLOWEEN
JUST A GUESS, I GUESS
Pastor Joshua Mhlakkela has predicted the “rapture” will hit us either yesterday (wrong) or today. Keep in mind that he’s incorrectly predicted the world twice before.
And some folks wander why religion gets a bad name from time to time.
MIAMI VICE
Miami Vice fans will be happy to know that Universal is producing a new movie with a couple of great choices to play Crockett and Tubbs.
Austin Butler who played Elvis in the movie, and Michael B. Jordan who played the lead role in “Creed.”
I was a fan of the TV show, so I’m all in for this one.
QUOTE OF THE DAY
From Lucille Ball:
“The secret of staying young is to live honestly, eat slowly and lie about your age."
TODAY
I’m off to write with Lauren Mascitti and Lee Black. Always fun writing with these two.
Have a great Tuesday!
