Duo Co-Write...Road Ahead...AI Appointment

BILL BLOG

Wednesday, October 28, 2026

It’s the last Hump Day of October…Wednesday! We will hit a 78-degree high today in Music City, but come Monday? The high will be just 66. It’s really Fall.

YESTERDAY

Hallelujah. I got my computer back. So far, so good. My tech guy never had a crashing problem like mine. Never crashed once at the shop. Go figure. Either way, I’m glad to have it back.

So, I took it with me to my songwriting appointment with Kristen Bearfield and her boyfriend, Andy Davis.

Kristen has been touring all over with her all-girl gospel group “High Road".

That’s Kristen on the far left in the picture above.

Meanwhile, Andy is touring everywhere with Contemporary Christian artist Anne Wilson, with a two-week run out west starting next week.

Andy brought a great idea for a song that let us include three-part harmony, which is always fun. It’s always easier when someone brings the start of something really good, as he did yesterday. Thanks, Andy!

NEXT SHOWS

Here’s what’s on my tour calendar for the rest of 2026.

November 14 at the Clayton Center in Clayton, North Carolina, with Linda Davis & Lang Scott. Showtime is 8 pm.

November 15, our trio will play the Davis Theatre (not named after Linda) in Concord, North Carolina. 4 pm start.

December 5 in Winchester, Virginia, for the “Faith Love & Laughter” concert at 6 pm.

Full details on these shows are on my website under the TOUR section.

SONG OF THE DAY

I’m choosing “Deeper inLove,” which I wrote with Josh Shilling, that bluegrass artist Carley Arrowood recorded the heck out of. Carley is also a great fiddle player, as well as being a singer-songwriter, and it’s her that you’ll hear fiddling on this record.

HEALTH NOTES

Health experts are saying that a diagnostic test could flag which men need aggressive prostate cancer treatment and which don’t.

A Doctor-controlled robot has removed a patient’s prostate 35 miles away in the first ever US telerobotic surgery.

Slippers cause over 20,000 hospital visits a year, according to research.

HERE’S YOUR SIGN

Sit down and get your teeth kicked out.

AI CONVERSATION

Yesterday I made an appointment to service my car. Just a normal oil change. I had a normal conversation with someone in the service department who scheduled my appointment for later this morning, called me by my first name, and sent a text confirmation as well. It was not until the end of that conversation that I picked up on the fact that I was talking to an AI agent. Geez. It’s getting SCARY good when I can’t pick up on it quickly.

SPEAKING OF WHICH

Is everyone else thrilled with the amount of “vote for me” texts that keep showing up on our phones? Me neither. Where do they get our phone numbers?!

HARD TO SAY

The list is out for words that are hardest to pronounce. Here’s the Top 5.

5…Porsche

4…Niche

3…Dachshund

2…Gyro

And #1?

That would be the word Worcestershire. Say that three times in a row.

POWERBALL

It’s worth 716 million. I have just as much of a chance of winning that as I do of correctly pronouncing the word Worcestershire.

FUNNY

A fake headline from the Babylon Bee.

“Girlfriend Keeps Referring To Herself As ‘Wife-Elect’ Despite No Official Word From Boyfriend.”

UN-BEARABLE

Here’s what happens when a bear gets into a Subaru and accidentally locks itself in the car.

That should be an interesting insurance claim conversation with the agent.

CATS AND DOGS

A Southwest Airlines attendant who gets violently ill from pets is suing the airline, claiming she is being forced to work flights with cats and dogs on board. That should be an interesting case.

And then there’s this “emotional support” creature on board to deal with.

COOL MUSIC NEWS

The Governor of Florida has named the John Anderson song, “Seminole Wind,” as the official anthem of Florida. We just lost this iconic country singer recently, so this is a great tribute to John, who was from Florida.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

From Mark Twain:

“Don’t go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first.”

TODAY

I’ll be rhyming with my friend Caroline Owen today. She’s just back from the big bluegrass convention that was held last week in Chattanooga while I was playing music on the beach. So, I’ll get some of those highlights.

Caroline also has an album debut party this weekend that I’ll be at and get to hear her sing her #1 song off the new album that I wrote with Laura Leigh Jones, “Telluride.” Looking forward to that.

Have a great Wednesday!

The Bluebird Show...Pet Marriage...Tourist Attractions

BILL BLOG Thursday, August 6, 2026   Thursday morning, a little bleary-eyed. We’re back in the heat again today, with a high of 91 expected in Nashville.    I was up late last night, so the Blog is being posted just a little later than normal this morning.     YESTERDAY What a magical night at the Bluebird Café for the 9 pm songwriter show Wil Nance , Mo Pitney, and Brady Seals .      The place was packed, as it always is with folks from far and wide, including a nice couple who made the trip from Alberta, Canada, just to come to the Bluebird Café. And I don’t think they went home disappointed.   Wil Nance kicked us off with the great song he helped write for George Strait, “ Where Have I Been All My Life, ” and also performed his smash hit, “She’s Everything for Brad Paisley .   Curb Recording Artist Mo Pitney sang “ Fiddle Around, ” which he wrote with Wil and a couple of great new tunes. Mo is one of the...
