Hump Day. Wednesday. All Day.
Apparently, Nashville didn’t get word that Fall is right around the corner. Today’s high will be 96.
YESTERDAY
I spent a great day in the writing room with Jerry Salley, working on a new song idea that has a “Mexico” flavor to it that we both love. We are taking our time with this one because the idea is worth the time, and Jerry is a very meticulous writer.
We broke for lunch, which I normally don’t do because I tend to be a faster writer than a lot of other folks. So that gave the two of us time to catch up on each other’s busy lives.
Jerry has produced a tribute album to the great Delmore Brothers for those old enough to remember them and their great harmony. That album release is next month, and our friend Alex Miller dropped by our writing session yesterday afternoon, and we talked about what a great job he did with the Delmore Brothers song, “Hillbilly Boogie,” alongside young bluegrass great Carson Peters.
After lunch, Jerry and I beat on the new song idea for a couple more hours before calling it a day and scheduling another day next week to finish it.
BLAST ON THE BAY
Jerry and I are both looking forward to the Blast on the Bay Songwriters Festival in Port St. Joe, Florida, coming up in mid-October.
The schedule has not been released yet, but I’m hoping that they will pair the two of us up for at least one songwriter show that week. Come join us!

The number of single young men in the country has jumped over 50% since the year 2,000. I guess young women can be REALLY selective now.

Folks are already gearing up for Halloween. And every year in October, you can find corn mazes to get lost in. This year, several of these are popping up.

TODAY
It’s a day for packing for a trip with Freedom Sings USA to Paris, Kentucky, this Thursday, where I and 4 other Nashville songwriters and I will write songs with veterans and then perform those songs in concert Saturday morning at the Pumpkin Fest in Paris, Kentucky—looking very forward to that.
