And now Thursday morning has arrived. Sunny with a high of 83 today in Nashville. Pleasant!

YESTERDAY

I wrote a new bluegrass song with my buddy Tim Stafford online yesterday. Tim is one of the premier songwriters in the bluegrass genre. He’s been the Songwriter of the Year as well as Best Guitar Player more than once. I’m always in good creative hands when I rhyme with Tim.

I had a verse and a chorus already written; Tim jumped in with a second verse idea and a bridge, and we were done.

Tim has a brand-new song out that I love, “Right Amount Of Wrong,” that you can check out that will be one of the songs on a new album project of his. And he told me yesterday that the second single is going to be one of ours, so I’m looking very forward to that.

HACKED

While I was writing with Tim yesterday, my e-mail box started lighting up in bold with e-mails that had bounced back. It took a bit, but I realized my e-mail had been hacked. So I spent a lot of yesterday replying to friends telling them NOT to open this invitation they were receiving.

It ain’t me y’all.

You just have love idiots who have nothing else to do but figure out how to hack accounts.

BIG DOWN UNDER

Holy cow. “Here Comes The Sun Again”, recorded by the French Family Band that I wrote with Sonny French and Angus Gill, is #1 on this Australian Country Chart for the THIRD week in a row!

Wow. I’m the only non-Australian in this writing trio, but it doesn’t seem to matter. The song is getting a lot of airplay in Australia. Thankful for that blessing. Congrats to my friends the French Family Band, and congrats to Sonny and Angus as well.

SONG OF THE DAY

Here’s a duet I wrote with Rob Bellamy and Ayla Brown, who used to live in Nashville, and we wrote a lot together. They are now out on the East Coast, where they married, and they’re raising a family, but they are still being creative and performing. This one is a love song, “Nothings Gonna Stop Me Now.”

HEALTH NOTES

John Hopkins is touting an AI breakthrough that helps find fatal cancers earlier.

A new study suggests if one spouse has dementia, the other spouse is at higher risk of developing it themselves. It’s a significant increase in risk. Up to 74% in women, and 69% in men, according to this study conducted in Taiwan.

Taco Bell is offering a lettuce-free Enchirito for customers who have stayed with them through the diarrhea-causing parasite. As of last Friday, foot traffic to Taco Bell US locations was down 18.9%.

HERE’S YOUR SIGN

Yep. I’m pretty sure that’s how dogs look at porcelain.

BAD CITY TO DRIVE IN

The Lemon Law Experts just listed the “Most Stressful Cities To Drive In.”  Nashville came in at #2!  Hard to argue that. If you drive in this town, you know that’s pretty accurate. The city continues to grow faster than its infrastructure, which is why Elon Musk is boring tunnels right now to try to ease congestion.

Here’s the rest of the awful cities to drive in.

10…Houston

9…Pittsburgh

8…Louisville

7…Orlando

6…Columbus, Ohio

5…Baltimore

4…San Antonio

3…Philadelphia

2…Nashville

And the worst city to drive in…Atlanta. Can’t argue with that either.

DRYER SHEETS

Who knew?  If you see a dryer sheet in your mailbox, think about not removing it. Some postal carriers stick them in mailboxes as a deterrent to wasps.

The ingredients in a dryer sheet serve as a repellent. And now you know.

YOU DON’T SEE THIS EVERY DAY

That guy climbed to the top of a power pole in New Mexico. And unfortunately, he later died by electrocution. There must be a shortage of trees to climb in New Mexico.

MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACES

Travel & Leisure just listed the “most beautiful places” to visit in each state.

Here in Tennessee, they chose Cherokee National Forest. (I was surprised it wasn’t the Smoky Mountains)

And for my home state of Missouri, their choice was the Ozark National Scenic Waterway.

You can check your state if you’d like. Here’s the entire LIST.

YOU KNOW YOU WANT THIS!

You can get a 3-pack of Forever Charmin on Amazon for under $30.

For those tired of changing their toilet rolls, which of course is SUCH an exhausting job.

FLYING MORE COMFORTABLY

Emirates Airlines now offers economy passengers this.

A luxury headrest while you’re flying. Which will allow you not to drag one through the airport.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

From the late comedian Flip Wilson:

You can’t expect to hit the jackpot if you don’t put a few nickels into the machine.”

TODAY

I’m writing with one of my “Hits & Grins” partners today, Victoria Venier. She’s one of the busiest women I know. Besides writing, singing, recording, performing, running a business, tending to her horses, she’s also the head of the Gatlinburg Songwriters Festival coming up in a few weeks.

I’m sorry that I have to miss it this year, as I’m going to be playing in nearby Mountain City, Tennessee with Linda Davis and Lang Scott.

But Victoria and our other “Hits & Grins” partner, Steve Dean, will be in Gatlinburg for that great festival. Go if you can.

Have a great Thursday!
