Thursday December 19, 2024
Thursday morning has arrived and after some heavy rain here in Nashville yesterday it will cool off to a high of just 45 today.
YESTERDAY
I had such a fun write with 2/3rds of the “Three Times A Lady” trio.
That would be Victoria Camp and a pregnant Kennedy Scott. Kennedy is due about the first of May of next year…and her baby bump is growing. She and the trio will be playing several weeks in a row at Dollywood come next March…so that will be an interesting challenge for her for sure.
And it was Kennedy who brought in a very cool idea that we wrote together after Victoria came up with an almost “swampy” kind of melody to fit under the lyrics. Got a pretty good feeling this one will be on their next album. Yep, a good day.
SONG OF THE DAY
I’ve posted this song before but it seems appropriate to make it today’s song of the day after talking about the “Three Times A Lady”. This is a song the trio recorded last year on a “live” album they made in town with a full band “Come Back To Me” that I wrote with my friend Lauren Mascitti who was part of the trio at the time but has since left. Kristen Leigh Bearfield also co-wrote this. Click on the link and listen to this trio’s beautiful harmony.
SPEAKING OF LAUREN MASCITTI
She and I have two shows together on the evening of December 28 at an intimate dinner place in Lexington, Tennessee "Main & Monroe." The shows are at 4 and 6:30 pm. The venue is run by an Army veteran and his wife and we are looking very forward to playing at their place a week from Saturday.
And this Monday morning Lauren and I will be on air guests on the Coffee Country and Cody Show on 650 AM WSM to talk about those shows and play a couple of songs. You can listen in Monday morning at 9:15 AM at wsmonline.com.
HEALTH NOTES
Governor Newsome of California has issued a state of emergency because of a bird flu outbreak there. So far it’s cows…not humans that have the virus.
Meanwhile the first serious case of bird flu in a human has been reported in the state of Louisiana.
Word is that Acetaminophen, a painkiller and fever reducer could cause medical complications for some folks 65 or older.
HERE’S YOUR CHRISTMAS SIGN
WANNA DRIVE A WEENIE?
Oscar Mayer is looking for new drivers. The job pays $35,000 per year. And…you have to be able to maintain this.
The Weinermobile is a head turner wherever it goes. My radio show had one take a kid to school one morning in Wisconsin after winning an on air contest we had when I was there on WMIL Radio. He was no doubt the most popular kid that day in his school system.
MEGA
Mega Millions is worth almost a BILLION dollars now after the latest drawing. Might make for some nice stocking stuffers this year.
SUNSHINE
Experts say the top 5 cities to go get some sunshine at this time of year when it’s hard to find and have a good time in the process are:
5 Lisbon, Portugal
4 New Orleans (and you can get beignets with your sun!)
3 Tallinn, Estonia (I know…I had to look it up)
2 Amsterdam
And #1 for the sun is Split, Croatia
JESUS IMPERSONATORS
Yep…there are folks who dress up like Jesus and get paid for it. Some make over $200 an hour posing as Jesus on holiday cards.
Who knew Jesus had an hourly rate?
FAST FOOD
The two most expensive burger places they say is the Shake Shack and 5 Guys. I’m a 5 Guys hamburger lover. But it’s hard to be cool paying over 20 bucks for a burger, fries and drink. Especially when I know I can get a 2 dollar hot dog that’s been on the grill for a week at my local gas station.
NOW I CAN SLEEP AT NIGHT
After I found out the US has now murder hornets left. They came…they were eradicated. Officials say there have been no sighting since 2021.
Although…what if murder hornets are lighting up their tails and flying over New Jersey at night?!
TODAY
My wife and I are headed to Lower Broadway tonight to see the one man show hit songwriter Tom Douglas puts on titled “Love Tom”. Tom has written some gigantic hits like “House That Built Me” for Miranda Lambert, “I Run To You” for Lady A, “Little Rock” for Colin Raye and on and on. The show is at Eric Church’s place downtown and is patterned after the great documentary Tom produced that walks you through his life a bit and those great songs.
It’s a great Christmas present from our dear friends Lang Scott and Linda Davis and we’re looking forward to the evening together.
Have a great Thursday!
