Pennsylvania Writing...Weird Dreams...Album Party Tonight

BILL BLOG

Thursday May 16, 2024

It’s already Thursday morning y’all. And it will be sunny and 81 here today. We’ll take it after all the rain and cloudy weather we’ve had.

YESTERDAY

I jumped online and wrote a new song with Troy Engle up in Pennsylvania. Troy is truly a talented one man band as he can play ANY instrument well. His new album out in August of this year is pretty much him doing everything.

To give you an example of his talent listen to his current single we wrote together “Never Too Lost”. Troy is playing every instrument you hear, is singing lead and harmony parts as well. The ONLY outside person involved is yours truly as a co-writer. Troy was in Nashville for a long while and played with a ton of folks. Tom T. Hall, Eric Church, The Isaacs and on and on.

It’s just a pleasure to rhyme song with someone that nice and ultra-talented. And yesterday’s song was great fun to write.

HEALTH NOTES

The online publication Stacker released a list of the best and worst states for health care in the country. The BEST is Hawaii followed by Iowa, Colorado, Minnesota, Rhode Island, Maryland, New Hampshire,, Massachusetts, Utah, and Washington.

The WORST STATES are in reverse order, Arizona, Missouri, Kentucky, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Tennessee, Alaska, Mississippi, and the worst state is West Virginia.

A new study says blood pressure drugs more than double bone-fracture risk in a nursing home.

ONE STOP SHOPPING

Yep…you can “git r done” all in one little shopping mall strip.

OH LORD

Biden and Trump are going to debate again. Every comedian is thankful for that. That last time they went at it someone astutely said, “This debate is like watching elementary kids fight over crayons”.

For me…I’d rather watch pickleball on TV. Or the worst cheesiest movie ever on Hallmark. Or Kardashian reruns. Almost anything else.

UBER GREYHOUND ANYONE?

Uber is getting ready to let us dial up a bus from an airport or at a concert. For big groups so we can all ride together. I’m hoping all the UBER busses look like this.

WEIRD DREAMS

The online magazine BuzzFeed ask their readers to share their weirdest dreams. I rarely remember my dreams and those that I might remember? They don’t compete with this one.

“I dreamt about the people who had waffles for heads and someone took a giant bite out of the top of one of them so he died and they had a funeral for him. I woke up crying”. (Wonder if he woke up with syrup running down his head?)

THEM AND US

The Taylor Swift ERAS tour is expected to make 2 BILLION dollars. And get this. 500 million will be made on merchandise that she sells at her concerts alone. That’s a lot of T-shirts folks.

And for goodness sake, who doesn’t need a pair of these bad boys?

DECLUTTER

An organizational person listed things we should get rid of if we really want to declutter our homes. A few things he listed are old electronics, paperwork and bills, unused tools, old clothing, and these…

HEADLINE OF THE DAY

Men Are More Likely To Be Friends If They Don’t Share The Same Taste In Women”. This may be why John Lennon had a lot of friends. (ouch…sorry)

TODAY

I’m off to write with Sarah Davison who is the leader of a wonderful group called “HighRoad” an all-girl group that records gospel songs and more for Daywind Records. This will be just the second time we’ve had a chance to write together so we’ll have a chance to catch up on things like her being recently married! Congrats to her.

TONIGHT

I’m off to a music venue in town called Third & Lindsley for the “Three Times A Lady Trio” album premier where they will perform all the songs on their first album being released today that I have a song on “Come Back To Me” that I wrote with one of the talented girls in this group Lauren Mascitti and our friend Kristen Leigh Bearfield.  So it’s going to be fun to sit out front and hear our song “live” from this great girl trio and a full band.

Have a great Thursday.

A Writing Session...A Recording Session...New Shows

BILL BLOG Friday April 5, 2024   Friday morning and a weekend is upon us. Still cool here in Nashville with a high of just 54 today but warming back up into the mid 70’s in a couple of days.   YESTERDAY It was a really busy Wednesday that started with writing a new song with Caroline Owens at my publishing company. Something up-tempo and commercial that was very fun to write. You’re going to be hearing more and more about Caroline who’s young and gifted. Plays great guitar…and piano…and sings a bit like Alison Krauss and Dolly Parton if you will.     But the big news from yesterday was after we finished writing and I left my publishing company and our record label signed her as both an artist and a writer. So welcome to our little musical family Caroline!   A great decision by the label for sure.     INTO THE STUDIO I had to fly out of the publishing and make a 45 minute trip to a recording studio where Freedom Sings USA was recording the latest so

Nice Words...Selfies...Studio Today

BILL BLOG Thursday April 4, 2024 Thursday morning be here and it’s most surely cooler. A high of just 50 today.   YESTERDAY I polished up not one but two songs with Irene Kelly yesterday at my publishing company. She had gone through her songs that we have written together and thought we might be able to make those two songs stronger. And we did…she was right. That’s part of the craft sometimes. Going back and listening again and then making some time a make a good song better. Time well spent.   Irene and her two daughters sometimes do shows together that features great HARMONY. In fact, the three of them are headed to France at the end of the month to do some songs there. Here oldest daughter speaks fluent French, and sometimes performs shows singing songs in that language so I’m sure they are going to have a wonderful and fun time in France amazing some of the folks over there.     KIND WORDS Yesterday Troy Engle’s new song “ Never Too Lost ”

Tornado Month...Music In The Mail...Pearl

BILL BLOG Tuesday April 2, 2024   And a happy Tuesday morning to you. All eyes on the weather here in Nashville today. Storms, hail, and the weather folks are looking out for tornadoes.   A bunch of our schools decided to close because of that. 72 high today, but then that weather moves through and tomorrow’s high is only going to be 54. Fingers crossed that this storm doesn’t get crazy on us. It’s April…part of the deal anymore in middle Tennessee it seems.   YESTERDAY I had a free day to do that catching up thing. Got a few things struck off that list. We’re already doing that pre-packing thing for our trip a week from today to see our daughter and her husband over in Germany that we’re really starting to look forward to. Now if we only could find a Star Trek machine to beamed there in minutes instead of a LOT of hours flying…that would be great. But we’re certainly looking forward to seeing scenery with our kids like this.   MUSIC IN THE MAIL I did ge
