Tuesday morning, Labor Day is over, so it’s back to work!
We’re expecting the high to reach 91 today here in Music City.
YESTERDAY
After being on the road for 5 days, yesterday was a catching-up and a planning-ahead day. Unpack, do laundry, and then repack again for the next road run.
I sent a couple of songs to a producer who is looking for “country” songs for a young artist he’s producing. Here’s hoping the producer will like one of the songs I sent him.
MORE CHART NEWS
The song “Blue Collar Gospel” that I wrote with Jerry Salley and Rick Lang is sitting at #11 on the Cashbox Bluegrass Gospel Chart. Amazing, as that song has been out for a very long time, and it’s been on this chart for 26 weeks and counting. Wow.
The song was recorded by Jerry Salley and the Oak Ridge Boys and was nominated for the Bluegrass Gospel Song of the Year last year. We didn’t win, but the song has had some kind of great life. And it was the title track for Rick Lang’s great collection of songs on the album “Blue Collar Gospel.”
This was the very last song Joe Bonsall, the beloved tenor singer for the “Oaks,” ever sang before he passed. And before he passed, he sent a note telling us how much he loved our song.
ROAD LIFE
I forgot to share this picture yesterday. I had a Waffle House breakfast with my friends Linda Davis and Lang Scott at a Waffle House somewhere in Arkansas. When we came out, we saw this
Right down the middle of the asphalt road with old Fido on a leash. And of course, there was a Walmart store right behind him. We could publish a pretty big book of all the odd things we’ve seen out on the road all these years.
A few years ago, we saw this motel.
Motel 6.5…also in Arkansas. Maybe it’s the Razorback State’s thing…oddities

FYI…Steve is from Arkansas, but he assures me he has never walked his dog down the middle of a road.

A study in England suggests that smoking can cause loneliness. The Dr who presented the research says that “Smoking is associated with increasing loneliness in older people, suggesting that smoking may damage psychosocial health in addition to physical effects.”
According to a new published study from a scientific journal named Recent Progress in Nutrition, vegans may be sexier than the rest of us.

Folding your phone won’t be cheap. It will cost you between $2,000 and $2,500. I’m not sure I need to fold my phone. The one reason I WOULD buy one is that it should keep me from making so dang many butt dials. And my apologies to all of you who I have dialed with my buttocks. It’s an acquired skill.

I’m writing with my Maryland friend Rick Lang, who I mentioned earlier, as he’s in town all week for writing sessions.
