DISCLAIMER

Today's blog looks a bit different, because for some reason my blogger program is not allowing me to upload any pictures...so my apologies.

And good morning from Gulf Shores, Alabama. The sun is coming up, and the high will be a comfortable 85 down here on the Gulf Coast.

YESTERDAY

I got up early and made a 7-hour drive to one of my favorite coastal cities, Gulf Shores. I’ve been coming here for years, and I always look forward to coming back and spending time here. I’ve got two shows down here with my friend Brent Burns. The first one will be this evening here in Gulf Shores, and the second one tomorrow afternoon, in Biloxi, Mississippi.

I had to give my friend some grief, as he took me to a Mexican restaurant last night to eat. A bunch of his friends, and some Trop Rocker friends of mine were there at one long table.

I reminded Brent that I had driven 7 hours to the beach, and instead of seafood, we went for danged Mexican. Geez.

And we wrapped up the night watching the last of an exciting Seattle-New England football game, the first official NFL game of the season, with the Super Bowl Champion Seahawks winning at the end. A good first day here in Gulf Shores.

HEALTH NOTES

Dengue cases (mosquitoes) have doubled in Florida over the last week.

New data shows that intensive blood pressure control can cut the 7-year dementia risk by 15%.

An observational study concludes that weight regain after obesity drugs are tied to higher odds of suicidal thoughts.

AI SCARY

There were multiple articles I saw today predicting that AI might kill us all. Some researchers say it could happen within 10 years.

ONLY AT A BASEBALL GAME

At a Kansas City-Toronto baseball game last Saturday, Kansas City fans managed to get an inflatable hot dog into a big inflatable bun in 35 seconds, in time to win food for everyone in attendance.

Nobody knew the final score, but they knew they got the dog in the bun in time.

HAPPY PLACES

WalletHub just listed this year’s “happiest” states. Here’s the top 5 for happiness.

5…Maryland

4…Idaho

3…Utah

2…New Jersey

And the happiest place is Hawaii.

My home state of Missouri came in at 31, and Tennessee, where I now live? 41! Dang. I was pretty sure I was really happy.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

From actress Carrie Fisher:

“Sometimes you can only find heaven by backing away from hell.”

TODAY

Brent Burns and I have a great crowd coming for our show this evening at Tuscany Pizza and Grill here in Gulf Shores. If you’re near here, we still have room for you. Come join us.

Then tomorrow afternoon will be playing together at the Biloxi Box Set Festival in Biloxi, Mississippi at 2 pm on a stage located on the beach with the Gulf right in front of us. Tough work huh?

Have a great Thursday!

Again, my apologies for this "different" kind of Blog today. Hopefully I'll be able to upload photos tomorrow.
