Here it is…Tuesday morning. And it’s still hot. 93 for the high today in Nashville.
Meanwhile, a life-threatening tropical storm named “Bertha” is expected to batter Louisiana, Florida, and Texas.
YESTERDAY
Monday morning, I was on a Zoom call-interview with my friends Linda Davis and Lang Scott to promote an “Evening in the Round” show that we will be doing at the Davis Theatre in Concord, North Carolina, on November 15.
Thank you to the young Director of Marketing, Charlotte Marcellus Vail, for the great interview.
The three of us are looking very forward to this show in November.
CHART NEWS
This was a nice surprise seeing the song “Moon Shines on the Still” from Dailey & Vincent climb all the way back to the #2 spot on the Bluegrass Today Chart.
This song that I wrote with Laura Leigh Jones Robertson had been #1, fell to six, and then went back up to #2 this week. Unexpected for sure, but really cool!
That song is on their new album “Beautiful Soul.”
AND…
Another song Laura Leigh and I wrote that she recorded, “Sun Can't Stop The Rain” has been on this chart for a very long time…and still is. It’s at #16 this week.

New research says that drinking 5 cups of coffee a day is safe and could reduce heart risk.

WORLD CUP MONEY
I’ve admitted, I just don’t get all the hubbub about soccer. I just can’t get into that game. But LOTS of others get into watching players running up and down a field for a couple of hours scoring only ONE goal in an entire game, which is what happened in the World Cup finale that saw Mexico beating Argentina.
And I found out that soccer pays out a LOT of money
For winning the championship, Mexico made 50 million, while runner-up Argentina pocketed 33 million soccer-bucks.
So, what do I know?
BIG POOL
A really BIG pool. The world’s largest is now located in a housing area in San Antonio, Florida.
The Mirada Lagoon holds 30 million gallons of water. Wow. I have to blow up my pool.
A MIRACLE
Truly. An Australian woman just gave birth to identical quadruplets. Conceived naturally, and split from one fertilized egg. It’s a very rare event.
Everybody’s doing well except for the father, who is trying to figure out how he’s going to send 4 kids to college someday.

I’m back in a writing room this morning with Kevin Williamson of the Williamson Branch Family Band. Not a bad way to spend the morning.
TONIGHT
I’m headed to the Ryman Auditorium to take in the Ricky Skaggs bluegrass concert there tonight.
A good friend and co-writer of mine, Troy Engle, is a member of the band, and he’s going to be singing a song the two of us wrote that he recorded, “You’re Never Too Lost.” And I’ll get to watch and hear Ricky sing harmony with our song and play mandolin.
Thanks for the tickets, Troy. Can’t wait.
