New Year's Eve...More Book News...Happy Birthday To My Daughter

BILL BLOG Wednesday December 31, 2025   Put on your cone-shaped hat and grab your noisemakers. It’s New Year’s Eve, Wednesday. A high of 50 in Nashville today. Cold tonight for those outside at the big New Year’s Eve bash in downtown Nashville. 31 degrees by the time they start singing Auld Lang Syne.   YESTERDAY My last writing appointment for 2025 was with the talented Billy Blue recording artist Caroline Owens. And, we wrote a fun song yesterday. Caroline has a brand-new album on the way out early next year that will have “ Telluride ” on it, the song I wrote with Andrea Pearson that is Caroline’s current single, which is getting a lot of airplay right on the Sirius XM Channel-Bluegrass Junction, and for that, we’re all grateful.   Her new album will be titled “L ow Flying Planes ”. Look for it!   SUBTLE FREQUENCY My wife’s first book is available for pre-sales, and some are already buying their copy of Kathy’s first book. ...

Fun Writing Trio...Turtles...Target Has The Book

BILL BLOG Tuesday December 30, 2025   Tuesday morning, the next-to-last day of 2025.   It’s just 25 above zero in Nashville as I’m starting this Blog today, with a high of just 34 on tap. Tomorrow’s high warms up to 48. And we have had no “bomb cyclones” in middle Tennessee!   YESTERDAY I made the drive to Billy Blue Publishing’s office yesterday morning, where I write most of my songs, having signed my publishing deal there some seven years ago, going on eight. The building was locked up on a cold Monday, because almost the entire staff is still on holiday vacation. One of the rare occasions when I had to ring a doorbell to get in. Fortunately, my publisher was there, the only person there, and he let me in to write with Lauren Mascitti and Caroline Owens.   We had the place to ourselves. Caroline brought a great idea with her, and we worked on it for 3 hours or so, got one verse and a chorus, and will gather together again next mon...

Winter Bomb Cyclone...Pre-Order The Book...104 Year Old Vet

BILL BLOG Monday December 29, 2025   The last Monday of December has arrived, and it brought colder weather with it to Nashville. A strong gusty wind blew in last night, and we lost power for about 2 hours. And we went from the 70’s to a 32 high today with a low tonight of just 24 above zero. The good news is, the temperatures will be back in the mid-50’s by Friday.   More good news. We are not under that “Winter Bomb Cyclone Alert” for the northeast and parts of the upper Midwest. I’m not even sure what that is, but it doesn’t sound good.   THE WEEKEND It was a tranquil weekend here, and will be for a bit as I don’t have any shows on the road until February 11 & 12 up in Greenville, Indiana, with Freedom Sings USA —a writing retreat with veterans in that area, located between Indianapolis and Cincinnati.   I do have a couple of Nashville area shows before that, with the first one being Saturday, January 24, at Starstruck Farms ...

Christmas Day...Wonka...104 Year Old Veteran

BILL BLOG Friday December 26, 2025   Friday morning, the day after Christmas. 68 for a high today in Nashville, after hitting a balmy 71 degrees on Christmas Day. Sunday we’ll hit 74, and then the bottom drops out come Monday morning as the high will be just 39 degrees, with lows dipping into the 20’s.   YESTERDAY Well, I hope you and yours had a wonderful Christmas. We sure did. My wife and I exchanged gifts, and then later we hooked up online with our daughter Heather and her husband Casey over in Germany and watched the movie “ Wonka ” starring Timothy Chalamet . They cued up the movie on their end, we did the same, and then we could see each other as we all sat on separate couches and watched it.     Thumbs up on the movie. Had a bit of a Christmas feel to it, and that was great. And I’m a fan of Timothy Chalamet now. He was terrific in this, even better in the role of Bob Dylan in the movie “ Complete Unknown .” And in his newest mo...

Merry Christmas

BILL BLOG Thursday December 25, 2025   And a Merry Christmas to you all this Christmas Day! 71 degrees in Nashville this Christmas Day, and we will hit 74 degrees this Sunday.   YESTERDAY The Whyte House looked, smelled, and felt like Christmas Eve had just passed. It felt like early summer looking at Old Hickory Lake. But inside, it looked like Christmas for sure.   My wife made one of my favorites, gingerbread cookies, to accompany the turkey we had for dinner later.  But the highlight of the day was interacting with our daughter Heather and her husband, Casey , yesterday. It was Noon at our house…7 pm at their house in Germany. And that’s how we exchanged gifts, through the use of technology. We watched them unwrap what we sent overseas, and they watched the two of us unwrap what they sent from Germany.      My wife got a beautiful light sweater that our daughter sewed herself, a new talent she’s picked up o...
