Bluebird Thursday...Gulf of Eggs...Getting The Trio Together

Tuesday morning and I’m listening to rain pound the roof. 50 for a high today with rain predicted for the next few days in Music City.

YESTERDAY

It was a pretty lazy Monday at the Whyte House. With my songwriting appointment cancelled it opened up the day to pitch a few new songs to a couple of artists who are looking for tunes right now. And I spent a little time practicing songs to sing at the sold-out Bluebird Café songwriter show this Thursday evening with Barry and Will Hutchens (Father & Son) who are both writer singers from Virginia, and Laura Leigh Jones who’s a terrific bluegrass artist-writer who now lives in North Carolina.

This is the second time Barry asked me join him at the Bluebird and I appreciate him asking again.

I look forward to joining him and his talented song Will at the Bird.

Our songwriter round starts at 6 pm this Thursday evening.

 SONG OF THE DAY

Today it’s “Bring It On” by the former duo Watson-Nash that I wrote with Shay Watson and Joe Nash. Appropriate on the heels of the Super Bowl being over. It’s a sports-fight-song if you will that rocks. Check it out.

HEALTH NOTES

Studies are showing that those who are more “flexible” live longer lives. It also helps lower one’s blood pressure.  (Note to self: start touching your toes or practice doing the downward dog)

Flu season has now soared to a 15 year high. Lots of it going around.

And now alfalfa sprouts are being recalled because of listeria concerns. (I don't graze at dinner time so I think I'm good.)

SIGN

Please don’t stop y’all!

MORE SUPERBOWL STUFF

Yesterday I posted that I agreed with the Ad Meter folks that voted the Budweiser Clydesdale commercial as the best to be aired during the Superbowl coverage. But I missed the Harrison Ford commercial for Jeep. This one would be in my top 2 or 3 for sure. Just his line when he says, “even though my name is FORD” makes it worthy for being one of the best.

EGGS

And now some stores like Costco and Trader Joe’s have put a limit of one carton of eggs because the shortage. Some Kroger stores are doing the same. That news makes this meme pretty funny. Especially with Valentine Day coming up.

GOOGLE MAPS

Yep…if you pull up Google Maps you’ll see this.

Already, some folks are proposing yet another name change for the Gulf of Mexico.

AI

How much money is in artificial intelligence?  Consider that Elon Musk offered 974 BILLION dollars to Sam Altman for control of AI. And Sam Altman said “no thanks”. Wow.

And AI surely looks to be part of our future. Check this out. My friend Lang Scott shared this with me yesterday. Someone chose a voice to use with a picture of Albert Einstein and then Einstein starts talking. It’s going to be VERY hard to know what’s real and what’s not in the future. Check out this VIDEO of old Albert.

Look for AI newscasts in the future and try to determine what’s real and accurate. Roger Ailes of Fox once said, “People don’t want to be informed, they want to FEEL like they’re being informed.” One man’s truth is another man’s fake news. And so it goes.

NOT SOMETHING THAT HAPPENS EVERY DAY

There was a nationwide outage in Sri Lanka recently. Guess what caused it?

Yep…a monkey up in the electrical grid. Just your normal everyday occurrence.

MOVING TO

The top 4 cities right now with soaring real estate prices?  Atlanta, Raleigh, Charlotte and Dallas. And folks are moving there in bigger and bigger numbers.

Hard to find affordable real estate these days. Try making a bid on a house in Minot, North Dakota in January. That might work.

HEADLINE OF THE DAY

Animal-Rights Group To Hold Meeting At Steakhouse. (Alrighty then)

TODAY

I get to sit with two of my favorite writer folks today. Jimmy Fortune, Sydni Perry and I are gathering at Jimmy’s house today to write a new song. I’ve not seen either for a bit as both are as busy or busier than me. Jimmy had a big new project he just filmed and recorded for the Gaither Family that I’ll find out more about today…and Sydni is still out on the road singing and playing fiddle for Carrie Underwood.

There’s great chemistry it seems every time the three of get together and it’s always fun. Check out this VIDEO where the three of us sing the great Alison Krauss hit “Ghost in This House” featuring Sydni singing the lead and me and Jimmy chiming in with harmony that we filmed on day after a writing session at Jimmy’s place. Looking forward to seeing both.

Have a great Tuesday!

A Bluebird Show...New Album In The Mail...An Interview With An Old Friend

BILL BLOG Tuesday November 26, 2024   Tuesday morning…couple days away from carving the turkey. 50 for the high today here in Music City…bracing for some cold weather on the way.   YESTERDAY I had nothing musical on the calendar yesterday…but had one of those “had to do” things that took up a chunk of my day. Sometimes you can’t control a calendar…the calendar controls you and give you no choice. But there was some good news that came rolling in.   NEW SHOW On Tuesday January 28 I’ll be hosting a songwriter round at the world famous Bluebird Café. And the great part about this news is that I’m going to be able to add my longtime friend Brent Burns to this show…something that’s been a bucket list item for him.   And I’m so glad that I’m the one who will get to make this happen for him. EVERY songwriter wants to play the Bluebird. And somehow, even though my friend lived in Nashville and wrote very seriously for a long while, he ne...

Quiet New Year...Ray Stevens...A Look Back

BILL BLOG January 1, 2025   Wednesday…bring with it the very first day of a New Year. Time flies don’t it?   YESTERDAY A lazy New Year’s Eve day around the Whyte House. My wife and I called our daughter Heather over in Germany to wish her a Happy Birthday…yep a New Year’s Eve kid. She and her husband Casey were in a theme park in the Netherlands called “Efteling” to celebrate the occasion. The two of them took us there when we were over in Germany last year so in our minds at least…we could picture where they were at. More on the Germany trip at the end of today’s Blog in the “Looking Back” section.   TWEAKING I also spent a little time on the phone with producer-writer-singer Jerry Salley who is recording a song I helped write with my friend Andrea Pearson tweaking some lyrics of that song that young-talented bluegrass artist Caroline Owens is getting ready to record on her next album. Heck of an up-tempo tune and we wanted to make s...

Fast Writing...Chart Action...Fun Duet

BILL BLOG Friday January 3, 2025   Friday morning and here comes the first weekend of the New Year. 42 for the high today but the forecast is showing we might get some rain and snow on Sunday. Nobody round here need that.   YESTERDAY I wrote with Thomm Jutz out at his house studio east of Nashville. Good stuff always seems to happen when I write with him. And yesterday was no exception. I brought a start to a song he liked, and we were finished in an hour I’d say and then recorded the song. Tom is such a tasty guitarist and he always makes anything I have mucho better.   And Thomm and I share the fact that we are both fast writers. As I packed up my guitar and walked out of the studio he joking said, “the only problem writing with you is that it takes SOOOO long.”    Good day of rhyming.   CHART Glad to see our song “ God Never Made A Mountain” by Kristy Cox , written with Andrea Pearson and Josh Shilling is still han...
