BILL BLOG Monday, July 27, 2026   And the last Monday of July is on us…already! We had a little storm roll through last night, and today it warms up to 92 in Nashville.   And the heat is ramping up even higher. 100 million Americans are under heat alerts.   Our daughter and son-in-law now live in Yuma, Arizona, where it was 109 yesterday, and this coming Friday the expected high is 114 degrees!   THE WEEKEND Saturday, my wife Kathy and I made a trip to Eaton, Indiana, which is just north of Muncie. Some friends of ours were celebrating their 70 th wedding anniversary! And they chose me to be their entertainment.     Congratulations to Kenny and Caroline Owen , who have been friends for a long while.   Eaton is up in corn and soybean country, just north of Muncie, Indiana. It looked pretty much like the landscape I grew up in back in Missouri. Real folks. And they had a great turnout of family and friends.     ...

BILL BLOG Friday, July 24, 2026    It’s Friday! Beautiful day on tap, convertible weather with a high of just 84 in Nashville today. Come next Tuesday? We will hit 98.   YESTERDAY I wrote a new song with my longtime friend Victoria Venier , who is part of “Hits & Grins.”   And we chased an idea down that Victoria brought to the writing table. She wanted to try to write a song that sounded like a Morgan Wallen song. Not a bad idea since he’s the hottest artist on the planet right now. So that’s how we spent the morning.   We’ve written several songs together, and we’ve traveled a lot of miles together doing shows all over the country. BILL BLOG Thursday, July 23, 2026   And now Thursday morning has arrived. Sunny with a high of 83 today in Nashville. Pleasant!   YESTERDAY I wrote a new bluegrass song with my buddy Tim Stafford online yesterday. Tim is one of the premier songwriters in the bluegrass genre. He’s been the Songwriter of the Year as well as Best Guitar Player more than once. I’m always in good creative hands when I rhyme with Tim.   I had a verse and a chorus already written; Tim jumped in with a second verse idea and a bridge, and we were done.   Tim has a brand-new song out that I love, “ Right Amount Of Wrong, ” that you can check out that will be one of the songs on a new album project of his. And he told me yesterday that the second single is going to be one of ours, so I’m looking very forward to that.     HACKED While I was writing with Tim yesterday, my e-mail box started lighting up in bold with e-mails that had bounced back. BILL BLOG Wednesday, July 22, 2026   Hump Day, Wednesday it is. Sunny and a little cooler today with a high of 87 after an evening of storms and heavy rain last night.   YESTERDAY My Tuesday morning was spent with Kevin Williamson , the Dad of the talented Williamson Branch Family Band .     These days, we spend a little time talking about Kevin’s new grandkids, as he’s a proud grandpa, and rightfully so. But after that, we got down to writing a cool country song about all the things that money can’t buy. Which is the good stuff. Like spending time with your kids, and/or your grandkids.   So time well spent at the writing office.   LAST NIGHT I had the pleasure of catching a sold-out Ricky Skaggs show at the beautiful Ryman Auditorium last evening.      And as great as Ricky is, I went to see my friend Troy Engle , who is a member of Ricky's great band, "The Kentucky Thunder.” Angus Gill , my Aussie friend, we...
