Hump Day…Wednesday. 79 for our high in Nashville today with some rain, and rain looks to be in the forecast all the way through the weekend.

YESTERDAY

Songwriter Bill DiLuigi and I made it back to Nashville from Marion, Illinois, where we played a songwriter concert for a lot of veterans and their families on Monday evening, part of an Honor Flight ceremony up there. It was certainly great to be a part of it, and it was a treat to see these three veterans that I have written with in that area.

The next trip with Freedom Sings USA will be May 27-29 in Elmhurst, Illinois, up near Chicago. Looking forward to writing with veterans up near the Great Lakes.

SONG OF THE DAY

Something fun today from Donny Brewer, who is a big artist in the Trop Rock world. He’s won numerous awards in that “beach” type genre.

Donny called me one day and asked if I would help him finish a funny song idea he had. And to be fair, Donny had a lot of it written. I added a couple of funny lines, and then Donny put it on one of his albums, and had another funny guy, and Trop Rocker, Stoney Gabel, from Texas, sing along on the recording of “The Jeans Song.” In this song, the guy just can’t figure out how the girl FITS in those jeans.

 SUBTLE FREQUENCY

That’s the title of my wife Kathy’s first-ever book. She announced this book signing yesterday.

So we will be hanging out together at our first book fair ever with her great book, which is available for purchase anywhere you buy books.

HEALTH NOTES

According to “Health Watch,” the Ebola strain in the Congo-Uganda outbreak has no vaccine or treatment, and causes often deadly symptoms.

Experts say we need to be aware when buying sunscreens, because a new report finds that few meet safety standards.

A woman claims she’s being held against her will after a cruise ship hantavirus scare.

HERE’S YOUR SIGN

Wow, there’s a serious warning sign now.

GAS

Coming home to Nashville from Marion, Illinois, yesterday, I stopped to fill up. It was 4.79 per gallon. Lord.

With that comes news that 23 million electric cars will be sold this year. That’s 30% of all new cars sold worldwide. And I’m pretty sure sales will grow even more with the price of gas being in the nosebleed seats.

FUNNY WANT-AD:

“Human Cannonballs Needed. Must Be Able To Travel.”

That reminds me of when my Dad took me to a Shriners Circus when I was very young. First circus ever. They had a “Human Cannonball”, and I remember it scaring me to death. I was sure that big cannon was going to make an ungodly explosive sound, so I covered my ears.

I decided it takes a “high-caliber person to apply for the job of being a human cannonball. I never felt tempted to apply.

 GET ON BOARD WITH WILLIE

The TSA is now going to allow you to board a plane with “medical” marijuana. That might give a whole new meaning to getting a “contact-HIGH.”

IT’S OFFICIAL

The NFL did indeed “officially” give Nashville Super Bowl 64 for 2030 at the new 2.1 BILLION dollar Tennessee Titans stadium that will open next season. This town knows how to party and have a good time. There will be a LOT more country music fans by the time that week is over.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

From the Dalai Lama:

Choose to be optimistic; it feels better.”

BEER GONE

Schlitz Beer? No more. After 177 years, the iconic brand is gone. I was surprised to find out that they were still making it.

Growing up in Missouri, the beers I would hear them advertise were Schlitz and Falstaff.

And a lot of those beer commercials were in the middle of baseball game broadcasts. And to this day, somewhere, I still have a six-pack of this brew put out by President Jimmy Carter’s brother.

And…I’m pretty sure I’ve never taken a sip of any of those brands.

TODAY

I’ll be online today writing with my Knoxville buddy Tim Stafford. Always fun creating a new bluegrass tune with one of the great writers in this genre.

Then tonight I’ll watch the finale of “Survivor-50.” I might be a Survivor geek as I’ve never missed an episode of the show…ever. My daughter loves the show as well, so it gives us something fun to talk about after each episode.

She’s picking Aubrey to win.

I’ve got Rizzo

If you watch the show…you know.We will see if either of us are right later tonight.

Have a great Wednesday!
