Special Song...French Family Band...Christmas Movie Release

BILL BLOG

Wednesday November 26, 2025

Wednesday, and goodness…it’s Thanksgiving Eve!

Sunny with a high of 51 in Nashville today. Thanksgiving night, we’ll be below the freezing mark.

YESTERDAY

It’s always a pleasure to write with Andrea Pearson, who’s not only a talented writer but also a gifted vocalist. Such a GREAT singer. She does a ton of background singing for lots of stars, you know, and is in demand for recording sessions. And, she’s a pretty good painter on top of her musical talent.

Andrea brought a story with her yesterday, about the loss of a dear friend, and we converted some of her feelings into a new song. I was glad to just be an ear to hear the story and help shape that into the song we came up with yesterday. A pleasure.

 LAST NIGHT

I went out and listened to the French Family Band perform at the world-famous Station Inn.

They’re always so good. Mom Camille, from New Zealand, and her husband Stuie from Australia, with whom I write a lot, and their son “Sonny”, along with a couple of all-star musicians. It was a treat to hear 18-year-old Sonny sing a song I wrote with him and Angus Gill, “Here Comes The Sun Again,” which will be included on the family’s brand-new album, coming out early next year.

And I sat with my young buddy Alex Miller, who got up with the band and sang a tune. Alex also told me a stranger in the crowd walked up to him and told him how much he enjoyed the Alex and Emily Ann Roberts duet, “More Country Than You,” which I wrote with the two of them. That’s pretty much like music to a songwriter’s ear.

Fun night at the Station Inn.

CHRISTMAS MOVIE

This Christmas movie was released yesterday.

And I’m blessed to be a writer on the movie’s theme song, “Music City Mistletoe,” that I co-wrote with the movie’s producer, Shantell Ogden, and my friend Steve Dean. It’s a wholesome Christmas musical story set in Nashville. I went to the movie premiere with Steve, and we both gave it a thumbs up. If you’re looking for a new Christmas movie this year, check this one out.

SONG OF THE DAY

My friends Adam and Amy Pope will release a new album next year, and I’m blessed to have a couple of songs on it, including one that Adam and I wrote, “Hallelujah Anyway”. The two of them posted a little tease of the song on their socials yesterday, so I’m going to make this the “Song of the Day”.

HEALTH NOTES

Experts claim that eating pickles can help you lose weight. They have low-calorie content, some varieties could give good gut health, and most have very few net carbs. (Now if I only liked pickles…)

A study claims that those who live in Hawaii…live longer than anywhere else in the US.

Scientists say that our brain changes four times. At ages 9, 32, 66, and 83.

HERE’S YOUR SIGN

I think I’ll hang that one over my own Thanksgiving table this year.

CHRISTMAS SURVEY SAYS

46% of us will put up an artificial Christmas tree this year, while only 26% will decorate a real tree. I don’t think I’ve had a real tree since living with my parents back in the day.

Speaking of which, we’ll be putting up our artificial tree this weekend. Artificial or not, it’s sure pretty to look at.

SPEAKING OF CHRISTMAS

Experts are saying that for the first time, Americans will spend over a TRILLION dollars for Christmas. The stockings hung with care are going to be STUFFED this year.

A WIFE TWEET

“Sometimes I look at my husband like he’s crazy, and then I remember he married me and I realize that’s not a question I want to really ask.”

LOOKING AHEAD

I have two shows left on my calendar this year, both with Linda Davis & Lang Scott. Our “Evening in the Round” trio will be in Virginia the first weekend of December 6 in Stephens City.

And December 7 in Waynesboro.

Looking forward to both of those.

From Dorothy Parker:

If you want to know what God thinks of money, just look at the people he gave it to.”

TODAY

It’s Thanksgiving Eve, and I’m thankful I have the day free. And I’m giving thanks that I’m not a turkey.

Have a great Wednesday!
