BILL BLOG Friday December 20, 2024   Friday morning. Bring on the weekend! We’re starting the weekend in cool fashion here in Nashville with a high of just 39 today. But…come Christmas Eve we will be pushing 60 for a high. Santa will need to layer up this year.   YESTERDAY A bit of a lazy day yesterday, but last night my wife and I went to Eric Church’s place on Lower Broadway "Chiefs" in Nashville to see the one man songwriter show “Love,Tom” featuring the great hit songwriter Tom Douglas . Thank you to Lang Scott & Linda Davis for the invitation and Christmas gift.       “Love Tom” is a true story about Tom Douglas’ life... warts and all. And throughout the process are the wonderful songs he’s written like “ HouseThat Built Me ” for Miranda Lambert . BILL BLOG Thursday December 19, 2024   Thursday morning has arrived and after some heavy rain here in Nashville yesterday it will cool off to a high of just 45 today.   YESTERDAY I had such a fun write with 2/3rds of the “ Three Times A Lady ” trio.   That would be Victoria Camp and a pregnant Kennedy Scott . Kennedy is due about the first of May of next year…and her baby bump is growing. She and the trio will be playing several weeks in a row at Dollywood come next March…so that will be an interesting challenge for her for sure.   And it was Kennedy who brought in a very cool idea that we wrote together after Victoria came up with an almost “swampy” kind of melody to fit under the lyrics. Got a pretty good feeling this one will be on their next album. BILL BLOG Wednesday December 18, 2024   Wednesday morning…a week until Christmas! Some heavy rain today with wind and a high of 59. Could be fun driving in Nashville this morning. Maybe some hail to look out for.   YESTERDAY My writing session was with Stuie French of the great French Family Band that features Stuie and his wife Camille and son named “ Sonny ”. All three talented. Stuie and his son are extremely talented guitar players as well as singers and writers.   Originally from Australia the group has been here in the states a lot of years now and have built a loyal following. Once a month they play a how here in town at the Station Inn and you have to go early if you want to get in.     Right now the group is working towards recording a new family album so Stuie and I have been writing songs that might fit the kind of project they’re going for. BILL BLOG Tuesday December 17, 2024   Tuesday morning and it’s a little cloudy-hazy after getting a lot of rain here in Nashville yesterday. It’s never good when you’re driving and you see signs warning of “ponding water”. Saw some of that last night big time. A high of 59 here today.   YESTERDAY I wrote with Jeff McClellan for the first time. Jeff is from the Chattanooga area and had been to a couple of my shows and had found my “Off The Wall” CD and loved the comedy songs. So he pitched a funny Christmas song idea to me and yesterday we got to know each other…and we wrote his idea. Turned out pretty danged funny if I do say so.    Jeff had had a great REAL job for many years, but he’s dabbled in writing and has wound up with at least 4 of his songs being recorded by known bluegrass artists like the great Dan Tyminski of “Man of Constant Sorrow”…who has been long time guitar player in the Alison Krauss all-star band “Union Station”. BILL BLOG Monday December 16, 2024 And another Monday has rolled around. 62 for a high today and with that we’re going to get soaked with some warm rain.   THE WEEKEND Pretty relaxed around the Whyte House…but preparing for a very busy week starting today. Our tree is up and lit and I finished my Christmas shopping. Hooray for that. Watched some football on the couch and my wife and I watched the new version of “ Best Christmas Pageant Ever ” that was on Prime and has been in movie theaters for the Christmas season. I describe it heartwarming.       It reminded me of being in the little Christmas pageant at the New Hope Baptist Church back in Missouri where I grew up. I don’t remember for sure…but I’m pretty sure I was a shepherd. And I’m sure my brothers and sisters had parts as well. My Mom played the piano…so there are special memories that popped up after watching the film.   ON THE RADIO I’m going to be back on 650 AM WSM...

BILL BLOG Friday December 13, 2024   Friday morning…bring on the weekend. We’ve got a 55 degree high on tap today in Nashville.   And…it’s Friday the 13 th y’all.   YESTERDAY Rob Bellamy and got together on the computer screens to write a new song from an idea that he had. Rob is out in Boston with his wife Ayla and now their two small kids.   I accused Rob of having a hockey beard as it was full and he told me indeed it’s his “playoff” hockey beard. He should know as he played very competitive hockey…got as high as one can in minor league hockey. And he was the “enforcer” for the teams he skated with…so he knew how to “drop” gloves and throw down on the ice and he often did.       His sister also played competitive hockey. In fact she skated with the Gold Medal USA hockey team that won it all at the Winter Olympics in Korea a few years ago…and Rob’s wife Ayla was invited to sing the National Anthem before that go...
