BILL BLOG Tuesday December 31, 2024   Tuesday…New Year’s Eve and Happy Birthday to my daughter Heather!      COLD Those weather folks are warning of a Polar Vortex coming…and no…it’s not that Christmas movie. That means the country will get very cold…colder than it’s been since 2014. That means I have a brother who retired in Florida feeling pretty good about his decision to leave Pennsylvania for the Sunshine State. 57 will be the high in Nashville today…and some of that cold weather will hit us by next weekend.   Speaking of Pennsylvania…   YESTERDAY I was online with Troy Engle in Pennsylvania yesterday writing a new bluegrass song. BILL BLOG Monday December 30, 2024   It be Monday morning…New Year’s Eve…Eve.   And I’ve already broken all my New Years resolutions. Looking for a high of 61 in Nashville today.   THE WEEKEND Saturday night I played at a new place for me… Main & Monroe in Lexington, TN with my friend Lauren Mascitti .   We had two dinner shows at this great little café that owner Robbie McCready and his wife Emma own and run located on the beautiful town square in Lexington. They are trying to create a Bluebird Café type of atmosphere an hour and a half west of Nashville by hosting songwriter evenings to go along with their delicious menu.   Despite heavy rain that evening we had a great turnout and just had the best time playing there. BILL BLOG Friday December 27, 2024   It’s Friday morning and we’re sneaking into the weekend where I have 2 shows. More on that at the end of today’s Blog. Some heavy rain on the way to Nashville today with a high of 57.   YESTERDAY I’ve got a few days wide open because of the holiday season…with no complaints about that. I’m enjoying eating Christmas leftovers and watching both college and pro football on the big screen. And…I got one really funny Christmas gift in the mail from my longtime friend, co-writer and member of our “Hits & Grins” trio… Steve Dean. And I went right to our Christmas tree and hung it.   Yep…a can of Spam Christmas ornament.     I should probably fill you in. I grew up in Missouri…family of 7. Two brothers, two sisters. And we took a sack lunch to school every day. Often times my Mom packed a Spam sandwich in the sacks. I liked Spam then…would still eat it today if somebody fried some up. ...

BILL BLOG Thursday December 26, 2024   Thursday morning has rolled around…and how was your Christmas? 60 degrees for a high here today! Nope…not a trace of snow.   YESTERDAY We celebrated Christmas quietly here at the Whyte House…just me and my wife exchanging a few presents. We know each other after all these Christmas seasons together. Pretty sure her favorite gift was a set of cosmetic brushes (thank you to my daughter for the help) and for me? I get a trip to Arizona this Spring to watch my Reds play some baseball in the Arizona sun. Like I said…she knows me. Heck, maybe I can convince the Reds to let me pitch a couple of inning again!     We also spent a little more Facetime with our daughter and son in law in Germany and they too were having a pretty quiet stay at home Christmas.   Outside of that I spent some time reaching out to my brother and sisters, family and friends that I love to wish them a Merry Christmas as wel...

BILL BLOG Wednesday December 25, 2024   Merry Christmas to all! I’m in my little office space in the Whyte House this morning looking at this little white church.   It’s a replica of a little church my Mom had that I always loved growing up. If you   wind it up and it plays “Silent Night”. My wife gave it to me one Christmas with some help from my sister Vickie . I put it out every year.   And just down the hall there are presents to be opened under the tree later this morning.   And I’ve been a REALLY good boy this year!   GERMANY CHRISTMAS On Christmas Eve my wife and I hooked up online with our daughter Heather and her Army pilot husband Casey …who just got a promotion allowing him to fly solo from now from the “lead seat”…meaning he’s in charge now of his own flights even if there is a co-pilot riding along. BILL BLOG Tuesday December 24, 2024 And a Merry Christmas Eve to all! 56 for a high in Nashville…60 on Christmas and mid-sixties the rest of the week in Nashville. No complaints here about that.   YESTERDAY I spent some time in an old familiar place…but yet different. My friend Lauren Mascitti and myself were guests of the Coffee Country And Cody radio show on 650 AM WSM where I worked for several years, often time filling in for the morning guy and radio Hall of Famer Bill Cody .   When I worked there the studio was located in the Opryland Hotel. If you’ve ever visited that mammoth resort, you have probably walked by that studio and put your face up to the window and peered in. If you’re the host, it takes just a bit to get used to that.     But now WSM has moved the radio station out of the hotel into what used to be the old Roy Acuff house that was on the property of the old Opryland Theme Park and is now the home of the Opry bui...
