BILL BLOG

Wednesday morning, and I have a flight to El Paso this morning. More on that at the end of the Blog today.
HOT in Nashville with a high of 98. But, in New Mexico, where I’m headed today, the high is just 79. Looking forward to that.
YESTERDAY
I wrote with Caroline Owens, the great young bluegrass artist on Billy Blue Records. I’m fortunate to get to write with her quite a bit, and even more fortunate that the song “Telluride” that I wrote with Andrea Pearson went to #1 on the charts for her.
We only had a couple hours as I had an appointment to get to, but we managed to crank out a heartbreaking song that we both think is pretty good. Time will tell as always.
Andrea’s complete album is scheduled for release in late October, and that album will have “Telluride” on it…in hard copy. Can’t wait to get mine!
SONG OF THE DAY
I’m going to choose the new Kristy Cox single again that was just released, “No Regrets.”
This is the song that I wrote with Lauren Mascitti, and Kristen Leigh Bearfield that is the first single off of Kristy’s soon-to-be-released album.
And the reason I’m making it the song for today is that yesterday, on my way to my writing appointment, look what song popped up on my car radio on the “Bluegrass Junction” channel on Sirius-XM radio.
Gosh, that may be my favorite thing about writing songs. Now and then, you get to hear something you created getting played on the radio.
HEALTH NOTES
Scientists are warning of a drug-resistant ringworm fungus that is surging across the globe.
A study has revealed that an at-home urine test can spot nine in 10 cases of bladder cancer.
Scientists gave adults beet juice to drink daily. The result? Their blood pressure dropped.
HERE’S YOUR SIGN
Thanks for the late warning.
BASEBALL
I really love baseball. Always have. I once thought how great it would be to own a major league baseball team. With the Los Angeles Angels just being sold for 4 BILLION dollars, I’ve pretty much decided I’ll have to change my plans. Maybe I can buy a pickleball team.
DOG VS ROBOT DOG
What’s it look like when a real dog goes after a robot dog? Pretty funny. Take a look HERE.
And that poses another question. Are dogs chasing these things with no driver?
MORE DOG NEWS
This is an actual headline in our local paper, the Tennessean, this morning. “Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are Co-Parenting a Dog.” Uh huh. A headline. We’re a little bored around here.
OPEN UP YOUR MOUTH
Dyson now has a $499 toothbrush with a camera and AI technology. And it can floss as well.
I’m not sure I want to see my teeth that clearly. Heck, I’m a kid that grew up using baking soda for toothpaste!
SPEAKING OF GIFTS
Labor Day is right around the corner. This might be the perfect Labor Day gift for someone you know.
QUOTE OF THE DAY
From the G O A T of basketball, Michael Jordan:
“Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen.”
TODAY
I’m on a plane to El Paso with piano player and session leader Buddy Hyatt. Buddy and I will rent a car in El Paso and drive to Ruidoso, New Mexico, where we will join Linda Davis and Lang Scott. And then Thursday evening, Buddy will be our band leader for the first half of our “Evening in the Round” show, where Linda, Lang, and I will be singing some of our favorite old country songs. Then after intermission, we’ll do our normal songwriter show.
But to heck with me trying to explain it. Watch and listen to Linda explain it HERE.

And the weather in the mountains will dip into the 50s Wednesday and Thursday evening! Looking forward to that.
Have a great Wednesday!
