Tuesday, and I’m packing for a Freedom Sings USA trip flight tomorrow morning.
81 will be the high today in Nashville, with some more rain in the forecast.
YESTERDAY
The YMCA was open, so I went. I’ve never seen so many folks in my Y at one time. It must be the guilt from eating grilled Memorial Day food over the past few days.
Which reminds me of the old gym joke groaner. “Why do hamburgers go to the gym. Why, “To get better buns…of course.”
You were warned it was a groaner.
SOAP OPERA SONG
I found out yesterday that a song that I co-wrote with a duo several years ago, “Watson and Nash” is going to get some airplay on the “Young and Restless” soap opera on CBS.
There’s a first. I had a couple of songs in small independent movies, some on TV shows, some in commercials, but NEVER in a danged soap opera.
The duo of Shay Watson and Joe Nash broke up several years ago, but Shay makes a living placing songs, and instrumentals, and short fillers of music to Soap Opera shows and other shows on TV. So thank you, Shay, for not forgetting this song we wrote, "Small Price To Pay." The boys put it on their album, and now it's on a soap opera.
YA GOTTA GO THROUGH TEXAS
And I found this fun video of the French Family Band playing “live” on a song that I wrote with the Dad in the group, Stuie French, titled, “Ya Gotta Go Through Texas.” This is a great western swing song, and it’s one of three songs I helped write for their new album that will be out on June 9. Watch this video of Stuie, his wife Camille, and their talented boy Sonny. You’ll see and hear how GREAT both the Father and son play, both gifted guitar players to say the least.
SONG OF THE DAY
Of course, some folks go to the gym trying to look a little better before they hit the beach, which is about to happen with so many summer vacations on the way. And that brings me to today’s song, “Stylin’ On The Island,” that I wrote with Brent Burns. Not everyone who is out on the beach is dressed, let’s say, appropriately. Take a listen to the song from my "thirsty" friend.
HEALTH NOTES
Research suggests that replacing passive sedentary behavior with mentally active sedentary behavior was associated with a significant reduction in dementia risk.
Researchers found that the dolphins in the U.S. Navy’s Marine Mammal Program that lived the longest had higher levels of a key nutrient known as C15:0. And now some humans are taking it, hoping to reverse aging.
The WHO claims that the fast-moving Ebola epidemic is likely to get worse.
HERE’S YOUR SIGN
It happens.
HOMES NOT SELLING
Realtor.com claims that the housing market is mostly hot, but 5 cities are seeing home prices slashed as homes are not selling. Those cities are:
Phoenix, Tampa-St. Pete, San Antonio, Denver, and Portland.
Phoenix leads the pack, with 29.1% of all listings there having seen price cuts. The median cost of a home in Phoenix is now $449,000.
MEANWHILE
Kathy Lee Gifford has listed her home in Riverside, Connecticut, for a mere 100 MILLION bucks. But you get 3 acres and 13,163 square feet.
Geez…I’m about 100 million shy. Wonder if she’ll take coupons?
ELECTRIC
Now, Ferrari has its first all-electric car.
It only costs $640,000. I think I’ll buy one at the same time I’m buying Kathie Lee Gifford’s house.
CHECK THIS STORY OUT
Hard to believe they arrested her, isn’t it?!
MAYBE I’LL BUY THIS TOO
Yep, the world’s tallest thermometer is for sale out in Baker, California, for just 1.55 million.
That should look great out in the driveway of the Kathie Lee Gifford house I buy. I can check the temperature every day before I jump into my Porsche electric car.
YEP…IT’S A RECORD
A guy in Idaho just broke a Guinness World Record when he put on 32 T-shirts in one minute. Let’s file that under, “somebody had to do it.”
QUOTE OF THE DAY
From the late comedian Milton Berle:
“If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door.”
TODAY
My songwriting appointment got cancelled, so I have the day free. I’ll spend some of the time packing a guitar and a suitcase for a flight to Chicago in the morning with Freedom Sings USA.
Have great Tuesday!
