And…it’s Thursday morning. The high temperature today in Nashville will be 60 degrees.

YESTERDAY

I was back at my publishing company for the first time in a bit. Finally came out of the flu fog I’d been in for a week, so it felt good to create a new song with my friend Katrina Burgoyne. We wrote something with a little “spice” to it, as that fits her. Katrina is a HUGE Shania Twain fan, so her music leans a little that way, and that’s the direction we chased yesterday.

The Publishing Company was buzzing. All three songwriter rooms were full of talented writers. Jamey Johnson of the award-winning bluegrass group “The Grascals” was next door with my buddy Caroline Owens, who just celebrated her birthday!

And in our big Studio A, my friend Jerry Salley was hard at work producing some songs for a new Chuck Wagon Gang album. I grew up listening to and singing some of their parents and grandparents’ songs back in the day when our “Whyte Family” sang gospel songs in church. The Chuck Wagon Gang songbook was something we wore out. Songs like “Have A Little Talk With Jesus”. It was great seeing the latest edition of that group in the building.

SONG OF THE DAY

And since I wrote with Katrina yesterday, here’s a song the two of us wrote that she recorded that’s very fun, “Living The American Dream” as the song of the day…today.

Check out this VIDEO of our song featuring some folks who are line dancing to our tune along with Katrina in some places.

HEALTH NOTES

A study finds that people who consumed virgin olive oil, rather than refined olive oil, had improved cognitive function and greater diversity in the gut biome, which the researchers claim is an “important marker of intestinal and metabolic health.”

Doctors say the flu wave could linger into spring and that a second wave of it is on the way.

Plastic surgeons reveal the top 3 procedures for 2025. Nose jobs, eye lifts, and facelifts.

HERE’S YOUR SIGN

Secure everything before traveling THAT road.

SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE

Forbes Magazine listed several traits of successful people, claiming that being successful is no accident. It’s hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice, and most of all, a love of what you’re doing, or learning to do.

Hard to argue with any of that. It’s the old “find you a job you love, and you’ll never work a day.” I’ve been blessed to have that kind of job pretty much my entire life, between being on the radio, writing songs, and playing music.

And, you should be having fun on the job!

One of the things that convinced me to move from Cincinnati to Milwaukee to take a morning radio job in Wisconsin was this sign that hung behind the receptionist’s desk. The first thing I noticed when I walked into the building for the first time was…

I never regretted saying yes to Milwaukee. It was 6 years on the job, having fun.

GOBBLE-GOBBLE

It’s “turkeys gone wild” lately, as there are numerous reports of turkeys attacking people. Like the one chasing this guy through the snow a couple of days ago up in Canada.

What’s with that?

We’ll get even with the turkeys come Thanksgiving.

FUNNY

My wife sent me a funny meme this morning. It’s a husband and wife in bed, and the husband asks the wife, “Why do you think God made man before he made woman?” The wife said, “I don’t know”. The husband then replied, “It’s because he didn’t want any advice on how to do it.”

NEED TO CHILL OUT?

Here’s the way some folks are doing just that in Japan.

It’s called coffin-lying. You lie down in a coffin and meditate. They claim it’s great for people who want to spend some time alone and ease their nerves.

Uh huh. I’m thinking I would have a very hard time easing my nerves if I’m lying in a coffin.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

From Jerry Seinfeld:

There is no such thing as fun for the entire family”.

TODAY

No writing today. I’ll spend some time today helping my wife, Kathy, get prepared for her big book signing this coming Saturday afternoon. We’re looking forward to seeing a lot of friends come through the door to get her autograph on “Subtle Frequency”.

Have a great Thursday!
