Subtle Frequency Release...Rob Reiner Story...Grandma Song

BILL BLOG

Tuesday December 16, 2025

It’s Tuesday morning, and we are just 9 days away from Christmas! And, it’s warming back up in Nashville!  Today’s high will be 52 with lots of sunshine.

YESTERDAY

We got some big news here at the Whyte House yesterday. My wife Kathy’s first-ever book, “Subtle Frequency,” is now available for pre-sale!

So cool. The official launch date for the book is February 3, but you can pre-order the book right now on most of the platforms you can think of. Barnes and Noble, Amazon, Books-A-Million, and more.

She put a ton of hard work into this, and I’m so happy that her book is now available.  Much more to come, and lots of adventures, I’m sure, so stay tuned for more information. But my wife is now officially an author!

KA-BOOM

While I’m blogging in December and through parts of January, I will almost always hear the sound of shotguns going off. Why? We live off Old Hickory Lake here in Nashville, and it’s duck season. Son nearby, hunters in camo or jumping up in blinds and firing their Remingtons or Winchesters. This pretty much describes it.

SANTA!

I saw the big guy at my YMCA yesterday.

I asked where Mrs. Claus was, and he told me she was leading a Pilates class down the hall.  Of course she was!

SPEAKING OF SANTA

This line came from Cindy Adams’ column in the New York Post about Santa.

“The difference between Santa here, and Santa in Russia is, in Russia you sit on Santa’s lap, and he tells you what you’re getting for Christmas.”

SONG OF THE DAY

Today’s song is “Faster Than Angels Can Fly,” recorded by Irene Kelley. It was one of the very first songs I ever wrote with Irene, and we wrote it at her kitchen table one morning. The storyline came from a true story about a car wreck she was involved in when she was young, while living in Pennsylvania, that ended tragically for one of her friends who was driving way too fast.

As a co-writer, you feel blessed when another writer opens up their heart and shares such a personal story. It was a pleasure to write this one with Irene for sure.

HEALTH NOTES

Research concludes that drinking 3-4 cups of coffee a day is good for your health. And the healthiest way to drink it is black, with no additives. (Man, I’m SO healthy!)

And the healthiest bread, according to dietitians?  That would be rye bread.

A study warns that a diet high in soybean oil can lead to weight gain. Soybean oil if found in a lot of processed foods, making it the most consumed cooking oil in the United States.

HERE’S YOUR SIGN

What?

ROB REINER

What a tragic story about Rob and his wife…and their song. Geez. Hard to make sense of.

Here’s something about the actor-director I did not know, or had completely forgotten. He makes a brief appearance in the video “Does He Love You”, the hit song from my friend Linda Davis and Reba McEntire. You’ll see him at the end of this VIDEO. I’ve sat next to Linda a lot of nights and listened to her sing this song, usually with a guest we find to fill Reba’s part in every city we play.

But I somehow missed the fact that Rob Reiner was part of her song.

ROOMBA

The Roomba company just declared bankruptcy, citing competition from China and tariffs as the reason. My obvious thought after hearing this news is, “That sucks”.

FUNNY POSTER

My friend Randy Brooks, the guy who wrote “Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer,” posted this on his Facebook yesterday…so I’m sharing it.

SPEAKING OF REINDEER

This is a busy time of the year for Randy and his Reindeer song. He was in Virginia at the very same time I was a couple of weekends ago with Linda Davis and Lang Scott. I found out on Facebook that he was in Salem, and we were getting ready to have lunch there. So I invited him by text to join us for lunch. He had to pass, because he was rehearsing "Grandma" with a full ORCHESTRA for a show that night. What does "Grandma Got Run Over" look and sound like with an orchestra? Check out this little VIDEO.

FUNNY BREAKUP LINES

Couples break up. It’s part of life. Some tell their partners they are breaking up with some unforgettable lines. Here are three.

“Are you a loan from a bank? Because you have too many terms and conditions.”

“You were my cup of tea, but now I drink coffee”.

“I’m breaking up with you because you’re like a Monday. Nobody likes you”.

SCAMS

It’s not your imagination that Facebook has a LOT of scam ads on it. And there’s a reason. Last year, Facebook made $ 16 billion running those ads. That’s 10% of their revenue. So beware, because Facebook is not likely to start policing those anytime soon.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

From the great Homer Simpson:

Trying is the first step toward failure”.

TODAY

I’m writing with a couple of good ones today. Caroline Owens and Byron Hill.

Caroline is a bluegrass artist on Billy Blue Records that I’ve blogged about many times, and Byron is a great songwriter with multiple hits like “Born Country” for Alabama.

Should be fun rhyming with those two this morning.

Have great Tuesday!
