Friday morning brings the last weekend before Christmas. And last night, a lot of rain fell in Nashville - heavy rain. And some thunder, which knocked the power off at our house for a couple of hours last night. 44 will be the high today and then it warms up to 61 tomorrow.
YESTERDAY
I beat up on a new song idea I had with Wil Nance and Angus Gil out at Wil’s little writing cabin, which he has on his property. More like a writing shack now that I think about it. The rain was pounding on the roof while the three of us worked on a song idea the three of us like. We were not able to finish it to our liking, so we’ve scheduled a date in January to try and bring the song home.
Sometimes they just fall out, sometimes a song just takes its sweet time getting there, as was the case yesterday. And a lot of the time, when you get stuck like we did yesterday, the best thing to do is walk away from it for a while, and then come back to it later with a fresh mind, or three.
It’s always fun being in the company of great writers like Wil…
And Angus.
FRENCH FAMILY BAND
This talented family is getting ready to release their new album early next year, right around the corner. And I’m more than excited that the family has included three songs that I helped write. Two of those I co-wrote with Stuie, who is the Father, and one of those with Sonny (the son) and our friend Angus Gill.
And the Mom, Camille, sings lead on one of those songs, and it’s just so good.
Here’s a little tease from the family playing part of the song I wrote with Sonny and Angus, “Here Comes The Sun Again”. And listen for a bit of the lick from the hit “Here Comes the Sun” from the Beatles hit with that iconic George Harrison lick. It’s right at the end.
SONG OF THE DAY
Since I wrote with Angus Gill yesterday, I’m choosing a funny Christmas song I wrote with Angus a few years ago that he recorded on a Christmas album titled “Cheapskate Christmas". The idea came from Angus, and it gets a little airplay in Australia every Christmas.
HEALTH NOTES
Here’s an eye-opener for you. Cussing may be good for your health. A study suggests that swearing is a calorie-neutral, drug-free, low-cost, readily available tool we have to help us boost our performance. And, letting a few curse words can help one power through pain. Well damn!
A major study reveals why the COVID vaccine can trigger heart issues, especially in young males. Here’s that ARTICLE.
Nutritionists seem to agree that blueberries are good for you, although they are high in sugar. One nutritionist points out, “They are rich in antioxidants, vitamin C, and other nutrients that can help support brain health, heart health, and healthy blood sugar levels.”
HERE’S YOUR SIGN
Yep, that’s the political ticket I can get behind come the next election.
BURGER CRAZY
People are going crazy here, getting in line at the new In-N-Out Burger places that just opened.
Here’s how crazy this craze is. There is an app you can download that will let you know how long you will be waiting before you finally get to the counter to place your order.
Me? I’m app to wait until the craze dies down before ordering a burger there.

NASCAR driver Greg Biffle and his wife died in a plane crash in North Carolina. Devastating for any NASCAR fan, as they know what a great person he was in and out of the car. NASCAR just released this wonderful VIDEO TRIBUTE about him. There were seven victims in all. RIP

QUOTE OF THE DAY
Anonymous:
“I have a photographic memory. It just never developed.”
TODAY
I’ll be online writing with my talented bluegrass friend Tim Stafford over in Knoxville this morning, who is a writer, great guitar player, and member of the esteemed bluegrass group that is Blue Highway. To prove my point, here’s an EXAMPLE showing off Tim’s guitar skills. For some reason, my guitar refuses to play like that. Sigh.
Then this weekend, there will be a lot of college football to watch, including a great matchup tonight between Oklahoma and Alabama.
Have a great weekend!
