Looking For Audrey...Air Taxi...Virginia Trip

BILL BLOG

Thursday December 4, 2025

Thursday morning…and it’s a packing day for a road trip to Virginia. More on that later.

38 for a high in Nashville today, and the temperature will hover around 40 for a high this weekend in Virginia.

YESTERDAY

I had a busy Tuesday, pitching some songs to artists, submitting some songs to my publisher, and then writing a new song with young Taylon Hope, who found time to develop a new idea between her classes at Belmont University here in town.

Though she has a full schedule of classes and tests, she makes time to perform and write songs. That’s a pretty good work ethic to have if you’re going to chase music for a career. And she’s one of those you can’t not like.

Her parents came out years ago when Taylon was very young to a songwriter show I was part of. Her Dad and Mom came up and introduced me to his very young daughter at the time, and we wound up writing to each other not long after, and have written to each other ever since. Keep your eyes open for this one.

SONG OF THE DAY

Today’s song is one that I wrote with Linda Davis and hit writer Bobby Tomberlin which is a story about Hank Williams showing up at the same bar night after night looking for his ex-wife Audrey. Bobby included this song on one of his albums, and Linda sang on it as well. And it’s great.

But my friend Bobby Mackey, from Northern Kentucky, heard the song and fell in love with it, and he too recorded the song and put it out as a single. Here’s his version of “Looking For Audrey”. His version won an independent music award for “Best Song” a couple of years ago.

SHOW DATE CORRECTION

I posted some wrong information about our “Hits & Grins” show at the Jim Parker Songwriter Series in Huntsville. Here’s the correct info. The doors open at 6 pm at the Von Braun Theatre, show time is 6 pm with Jim, Victoria Venier, Steve Dean, and me. This is NOT a dinner show as I had mistakenly posted. But it is one of the great songwriter shows in the country, and if you are anywhere near, don’t miss this one.

HEALTH NOTES

A new study from Stanford claims that the shingles vaccine could slow the progression of dementia. 20% less likely, according to the study.

Olive oil shots are the latest weight loss craze, but experts warn it could be more hype than medicine.

A study suggests that 60 grams of roasted peanuts a day increases blood flow to the brain and helps improve verbal memory.

HERE’S YOUR SIGN

Yes, by all means, run before you tweet.

FLYING HIGH

Flying taxis are going to happen, sooner than later, in some markets. Next year, you can fly on one of these bad boys in Miami.

To avoid traffic, you can take the air taxi and fly from Miami to West Palm, flying over all the congestion. It will cost you about $200 to do so.

Years ago, I had a radio station kicking my tires about coming to Houston to host a morning country radio show. The talks never really got serious, but I did do my homework about the city (which I had not been to at that time), and I asked a lot of questions. I consistently heard what a BIG town Houston was, and how bad the traffic was. I found out that some wealthier folks there would take a small plane to work if their job was on the other end of the metro…and that was a long time ago.

Now it’s going to be a reality in several cities, if you can afford it.

THIS FROM A COMIC

It’s hard to get good material these days. All the best jokes are in Congress.”

IRON MAN

If you’ve got an extra $39,000 and you’re a huge fan of the Marvel character Iron Man, you can hang out in the Iron Man two-story suite that’s on one of the Disney cruise ships.

Complete with Iron Man memorabilia and more. Take the TOUR here if you’d like.

I think I’ll wait until they offer up an “Underdog” suite.

GOOGLE IT

The top Google searches for 2025 are in. The top 3 are:

Zohran Mamdani, Erika Kirk, and KPop Demon Hunters.

And now you know.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

From Pablo Picasso:

We don’t grow older. We grow riper”.

TODAY

It is a packing day, as tomorrow morning I have a long 600-mile drive or so with Linda Davis and Lang Scott to Virginia for this show on Saturday night.

And then this show in Waynesboro on Sunday night.

The miles will fly because I’m in such great company.

Have a great Thursday!
