Tuesday December 23, 2025
Tuesday morning, and it’s Christmas Eve-Eve. And we have a high of 64 today with a little rain in the forecast for Music City.
YESTERDAY
The last thing I expected to do yesterday was to write a Christmas song with Angus Gill. But that’s exactly what we did. A friend of his gave him the general idea, and then the song pretty much fell out quickly. Angus sat down at the piano and found a beautiful melody that fit the lyrics I was giving to him. And in the last verse, I was able to reference some of the Christmas memories of my Mom, like the little white church, which, if you wind it up, it plays Silent Night. And now I put it out every Christmas just like she did.
I don’t have much doubt that if we are lucky enough to get the song recorded, it’s going to be emotional for those who have lost their Moms.
THE BOOK
More news on my wife Kathy’s first book. Yesterday we found out that the book will be available at Walmart. It’s everywhere!
A reminder, you can preorder the book right now from pretty much everyone who sells books online…including in India and Spain.
If you are a Barnes and Noble fan, you’ll find hard copies in the store (and elsewhere) starting February 3, the official release date. And Barnes and Noble announced they will be opening 60 new book stores nationwide. So there will be lots of places to pick up a hard copy of “Subtle Frequency”.
NEXT SHOW
My next show will be a dinner show at Starstruck Farms in Lebanon, Tennessee, with “Hits & Grins. Starstruck Farms is Reba’s old place that has been turned into an entertainment venue.
Her old stables is now called “The Grand Ole Barn” and that’s where we will be performing, starting at 7 pm that evening. Tickets are now available at this LINK.
SONG OF THE DAY
This is an Angus Gill song that we wrote about his Grandma several years ago, before she passed from Alzheimer’s. The song is titled “Scrapbook”, which was the title song for his album that went #1 in Australia, which I saw hanging on his wall when I wrote with him yesterday.
You can always tell you’re rhyming with a dedicated songwriter when you see this many guitars in his writing room.
HEALTH NOTES
Barry Manilow has cancelled all his appearances after a lung cancer diagnosis.
The FDA has approved a Wegovy pill that will open up an oral way of taking a weight loss drug.
Doctors are warning that frequent heartburn may be a warning of a more serious condition, like esophageal cancer.
HERE’S YOUR SIGN
Yep.
MISSOURI FOOTBALL
It's hard to believe the Kansas City Chiefs will relocate from Missouri to neighboring Kansas. For 60 years, the Chiefs have been on the Missouri side of the line.
I attended college on the west side of Missouri, and although I rooted for the St. Louis Cardinals football team at the time, all my buddies rooted for the Chiefs. That’s a lot of tradition moving. But when someone offers up a 4 BILLION dollar new domed stadium? A lot of owners would move.
So much for tradition.
FUNNY
Check out how phone booths have evolved over the years.
I call that “porcelain dialing”.
SILVER AND GOLD
Gold and silver are both at record highs. One ounce of gold is now worth $4,470, up 70% this year. And silver jumped up 130%, with it being worth $69 and ounce. We should have listened to Cornelius Yukon when he was looking for “Silver and Gold” that Burl Ive's snowman character sang about in the "Rudolph" classic
OR…
You could buy a Powerball ticket today and bank 1.7 billion dollars if your numbers come up. And then there’s this…
BAD CHRISTMAS TUNES
USA Today just listed their choice for “Worst Christmas Songs”. Here’s their Top 5 for “Worst”.
5…”Funky Funky Xmas”… by the New Kids on the Block.
4…”Little Drummer Boy”…by Ashlee and Jessica Simpson.
3…”The Christmas Shoes…by Newsong.
2…”Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer”…by Elmo and Patsy, written by my good friend Randy Brooks who is laughing all the way to the Christmas bank every year.
And their choice for the WORST Christmas song?
“The Chipmunk Song” by Alvin and the Chipmunks.
"Alviiiiiiiin!!"
QUOTE OF THE DAY
From Mark Twain:
“I did not attend his funeral, but I did send a nice letter saying I approved of it.”
TODAY
From now until January, I don’t have a whole lot on the calendar. I think it may have something to do with Christmas!
Have a great Tuesday!
