Carolina To Nashville...Does He Love You...Show Tomorrow in Georgia

BILL BLOG

Thursday November 5, 2025

Thursday morning, and I’m home in Nashville…but just for today. 72 will be the high in Twang Town today, but a cold front is approaching…a freeze is expected by next Monday. Yikes. Not my favorite time of year, dark early, and COLD.

Meanwhile, some will get to see the “northern light” this evening and tomorrow evening. Guess where you’re most likely to see them?  The North. Uh huh. There’s a reason they call them the NORTHERN lights.

YESTERDAY

Our “Evening in the Round” trio made an 8-hour trip back to Nashville from Durham, North Carolina, after our showcase there on Tuesday night. Long trip, but the miles once again flew by with the fall foliage flying by us.

We had such a great time playing for the southeast buyers, and now we wait to hear how many might want to bring our show to their theaters.

 GREAT PERFORMANCE

We were all still talking about how great this MOMENT was on stage when our friend Brooke Aldridge joined Linda to sing that big duet smash that Linda sang on with Reba, “Does He Love You”. Click the link to watch that moment.

HOME

I got home late afternoon, dumped the suitcase out for a relaunder job, and then I’ll pack it again this afternoon for an early morning departure for this show Friday night with Linda Davis and Lang Scott in Toccoa, Georgia.

And then I’ll be on the road early Saturday morning for Gulf Shores and the Frank Brown Songwriters Festival, where I’ll play 5 times this year. Twice with my “Hits & Grins” Trio, and twice with my Gulf Shores buddy Brent Burns.

And then on Veteran’s Day, I’ll be part of this great Freedom Sings USA Event to honor our veterans.

SONG OF THE DAY

Since I’m going to be with Brent Burns for a couple of shows again, here’s another Bill and Brent song, “Baby Boomers". If you are a Baby Boomer, I’m pretty sure you’ll smile and remember a lot of what our song talks about.

HEALTH NOTES

New research suggests that picking up the weights may be more effective than hitting the treadmill when it comes to controlling blood sugar and preventing diabetes.

A study finds that blueberries may help strengthen babies’ immune systems.

A new study finds that one long walk is more beneficial for us than multiple short ones.

HERE’S YOUR SIGN

And some people observe that clock religiously down on the coast. (Don’t ask me how I know)

FLY AWAY

Not a great time to book a flight. The FAA has cut back 10% of all flights because of the government shutdown, leading to some chaos for those who need to fly. It could adjust some holiday travel plans, and there seems there’s no end to it.

CHRISTMAS MUG

Here’s a really HOT Christmas item. The new Starbucks Christmas mug. It’s called a “Bearista” Cup.

They’re not even on sale yet at the stores, but somehow a few are on eBay for as much as $300. And that tees up once again why I wrote this song, “Good Cup of Coffee”. Is it too much to ask to get:

Just a little black Joe

In a cup to go

What’s a guy gotta do to get a good cup of coffee round here!

SPEAKING OF SONGS

I read a musical article this morning revealing that Glen Campbell cried the first time he heard the song “Wichita Lineman,” which the great Jimmy Webb wrote. And the producer, and several musicians, apparently had the same reaction to what some think may be the greatest song ever written. And I would not argue that.

Glen had a huge hit with “By The Time I Get To Phoenix”, also written by Jimmy Webb, and asked Jimmy to send him another song for a session he was in the middle of. Jimmy sat down at his piano and wrote what he THOUGHT was an unfinished song, and sent it to Glen, who recorded the song just as it was.

And with that, I think I’m only going to write unfinished songs from now on.

HIDE YOUR GUN BETTER

Here’s a statistic for ya. Here in Nashville, police are seeing a surge in stolen guns from vehicles. 851 cases so far this year. And that makes one wonder what the percentage would be of people having a loaded gun in their car or truck.

I grew up in Missouri, where it was pretty easy to see where the gun was.

TODAY’S QUOTE

Bill Gates said:

I choose a lazy person to do a hard job. Because a lazy person will find an easy way to do it.

TODAY

Repacking for the road. Early start for Toccoa, Georgia, tomorrow morning.

Have a great Thursday!
