BILL BLOG
Tuesday October 7, 2025
Tuesday morning is rolling in. Rain is falling at the start of today’s Blog. A high of just 74 is predicted for today in Nashville.
YESTERDAY
I wrote with one of my favorite singers in this town, Andrea Pearson. Andrea does a lot of background vocal singing on recording sessions…in demand. And she’s been out on the road doing some of that with some of the biggest country stars. And on top of that, she’s a proud Mom of two young daughters…so she stays very busy.
Yesterday, Andrea brought in a very funny “catchy” idea for a song that we wrote together. Fun. One of the great things for me about being a songwriter these days is that I find myself in writing rooms with folks who are not only good writers, but unbelievable singers. So many days, like yesterday, I feel like I’ve got a front-row seat to a great concert. Blessed for sure.
NEW SHOW
October 29, I’ll join my friends Linda Davis and Lang Scott to play a private show for Mercy Chefs, a wonderful faith-based organization that makes first-class meals for emergency responders. Not just sandwiches and chips. Fine dining food. This will be my second time getting to play for such a wonderful cause. Watch this VIDEO to find out more about Mercy Chefs.
TODAY’S SONG
Here’s a song from my Arizona friend Jake Madlock, “Good Thing Going”. I met Jake on the Grand Canyon Railway several years ago. He’s one of the entertainers on the train that runs from Williams, Arizona, to the Grand Canyon every day. I went out and joined Jake and the other entertainers two years in a row, and got to know him pretty well. A couple of years ago, Jake was recording an album to sell at some of his shows in Arizona, and asked if I would send him some songs. He liked “Good Thing Going,” which I wrote with my friends Steve Dean and Paul Bogart. Glad he did!
HEALTH NEWS
A Michigan University-led study concludes that nearly half of fatal car accidents are linked to marijuana use.
Science says if you want to feel more confident, competent, and self-assured, you should stop saying “I’m Sorry” so often.
The CDC says people must consult a health professional now before getting a COVID-19 shot.
MORE ON AI
Some experts are now saying that 100 million jobs will be replaced by AI within the next decade. Wow. I have lots of AI conversations these days with songwriters and creative folks, as I did yesterday, writing with Andrea Pearson.
For a short while, Andrea worked at Amazon Prime. We have a HUGE Amazon building just a few miles from us.
That picture can’t really capture how huge that place is. Andrea said there are three floors, and each floor is longer than three football fields. She also said, if you sign up to work there, you have to learn to work with robots. Some of them actually bring you stuff.
One AI expert says, “AI will not replace humans, but those who use AI will replace those who don’t”.
SQUIRREL
The Carolina Classic Fair is drawing lots of people to watch a danged squirrel. This one can water ski.
His name is Twiggy. Yep, give me a corn dog, and I’ll stand there and watch that. I’m not sure if it’s as exciting as the diving mules I saw at the Missouri State Fair when I was growing up, but it’s got to be close.
They’ve done away with mule diving for all the reasons you would think. BUT…there are still places to watch this.
So all is well in the world of fairs.
DUCK AND COVER
On September 30, while I was sound asleep, an asteroid flew by Earth. Closest fly by ever. It zipped past Antarctica, 266 miles above the Earth. I called State Farm. They still don’t offer asteroid insurance.
HERE’S YOUR SIGN
I did not know there was a hunting season for corn!
TODAY’S QUOTE
From the Hall of Fame, New York Yankee catcher Yogi Berra:
“Ninety percent of the game is half-mental”. (A true Yogism for sure)
TODAY
Nothing really big today. But with a radio show appearance Thursday night…
And a road trip Friday to Huntsville…
It’s kind of nice to have the day.
Have a great Tuesday!
