BILL BLOG
Tuesday September 23, 2025
Tuesday morning here in Music City, and it’s soggy. Rain and severe weather are predicted for the next 3 days in Nashville, and it’s raining heavily at the start of today’s Blog.
YESTERDAY
Songwriter Bill DiLuigi brought a cool idea with him to our writing room yesterday morning, which we wrote into a positive song. A song about being grateful for all the things we have, not the things we don’t have. Good idea.
Bill is one of our Freedom Sings USA songwriters who goes out and writes with veterans. Bill moved to Nashville from Pennsylvania in 2005 and has had over 300 of his songs recorded through those years. Fun day rhyming with him yesterday.
SONG ON THE RADIO
My friend Laura Leigh Jones just released her first single "Sun Can't Stop The Rain" a few days ago...a song the two of us wrote a couple of years ago. The good news is that Sirius-XM added the song right away, and it's playing regularly on the "Bluegrass Junction" channel...which is THE show, and radio station that most bluegrass fans listen to.
So thank you to Program Director Joey Black for loving our song!
SUBTLE FREQUENCY
That’s the title of my wife Kathy’s first-ever book that’s finished, and the first copies will be arriving soon. I’m her husband, I know, but this is really a great book…fiction…novel…from an idea she’s had for a long time. And she finally found time to take that thought and turn it into this book.
I’m SO proud of her! If you haven't yet, go follow her Facebook page to stay up-to-date with all things about “Subtle Frequency”. It’s going to be a fun ride.
SONG OF THE DAY
Here’s a sports-football rally song (since it’s football season) that I wrote with the duo Watson & Nash, which featured Shay Watson and Joe Nash. The duo is no longer together, but recorded 4 or 5 songs I wrote with them before they broke up. They also created a pretty cool video featuring this song. Check out “Bring It On”.
HEALTH NOTES
Shocking new research suggests that even just one milkshake can impair blood flow to the brain, increasing the risk of stroke and dementia.
Kenvue, the makers of Tylenol, saw their stock plummet amid reports that Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will suggest a link between autism and the use of Tylenol by pregnant women.
Health officials say that there’s a measles outbreak in parts of Arizona and Utah.
HERE’S YOUR SIGN
Gosh, I think I’ll just have a short stack of pancakes this morning.
AIRPORTS
JD Power has listed the US airports that scored the highest in approval ratings with those who fly. The best airport is Minneapolis, followed by Detroit, Phoenix, DFW, and Las Vegas. Those are the top 5 in the Mega-Airport category.
I will say that the Minneapolis airport is a pretty cool place to hang out and wait for a flight. A few years ago, my wife and I were waiting on a connection to go overseas, and we both commented on how beautiful the airport was.
And though Nashville was not listed at the top in its category, it’s not a bad place to hang out either, as there are lots of “live” music places scattered across BNA.
MORE AI
NVIDIA, the most valuable publicly traded company, has announced it will invest 100 BILLION dollars in OpenAI. That’s 100 BILLION with a big ole “B”.
One guy bragged that AI will never take his job away. He says, “No idiot would do my job”.
NOT SOMETHING YOU SEE EVERY DAY
Nashville cops arrested a guy this weekend dressed in a Gorilla suit for attacking a man and then stealing his shoes on Lower Broadway (the party district) here in Nashville. I’m sure our cops have LOTS of interesting stories about arrests they’ve made on Lower Broadway.
The real question is, when did Gorilla’s start wearing shoes?
TODAY’S QUOTE
From Albert Einstein:
“The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits".
TODAY
I’m writing with Kevin Williamson, the Dad of the family bluegrass band Williamson Branch. His wife and three daughters, all talented. And all three of his girls have grown up! With a little luck, we’ll write something the whole family likes.
Have a great Tuesday!
