BILL BLOG
Thursday December 5, 2024
And a colder morning is rolling in this Thursday…20 degrees cooler than it was yesterday here in Nashville. A high of just 36 today with tonight’s low? 18 degrees!
YESTERDAY
I wrote with one of my “Hits & Grins” partners yesterday Victoria Venier at my publishing company Billy Blue.
Before she walked in to write with me my computer died…completely. And I wound up writing old school with paper and pen. I was reminded how much I hate that my life is stored in a danged computer.
So we wrote a cool new tune and then I made a beeline to my computer guy who agreed that the battery in my 8-year-old computer had gone belly up. So sometime later today I should have it back up and running again. So this morning my Blog comes to you courtesy of my wife’s laptop.
DON’T FORGET
Victoria and I and our “Hits & Grins” partner will be playing at the Grand Ole Barn at Starstruck Farms tomorrow night in Lebanon, Tennessee. The property once belonged to Reba where she had a huge house on Old Hickory Lake. Now part of that property has been converted to a performance venue, and there’s a café on the property as well. Showtime is 7:30 pm with a delicious Bar B Que dinner beforehand.
SONG OF THE DAY
Speaking of Reba. My friend Linda Davis of course sang the smash hit “Does He Love You” with Reba. But did you know that Linda also sang an UNFORGETTABLE duet with my longtime funny beach friend Brent Burns? She did. The song it titled “Resistible” and it really is funny. And Linda’s part that she inserted is hysterical. Click the link and have a laugh yourself.
MORE CHART ACTION
I mentioned earlier this week how great it was to see the Kristy Cox song “God Never Made A Mountain” at the #3 spot this week on the Bluegrass-Gospel Chart, but failed to mention that another song I’m part of “Country Faith” from Kristen Bearfield featuring the great gospel sing Karen Peck is also on that same chart at #8 this week. Kristen and I wrote that song with Tim McGraw’s long time guitar player Bob Minner. That song “Country Faith” will be used as a theme song on an upcoming show on The Singing News Channel hosted by Kristen.
I’m certainly happy to be a part of both of those songs.
HEALTH NOTE
An encouraging new study finds that pancreatic cancer patient survival doubles with a high dose of vitamin C.
A new study suggests that long COVID can only be treated with therapy.
Reportedly a new kind of brain therapy is allowing paralyzed patients learn to walk again.

POST THANKSGIVING
I just got this great picture of our Thanksgiving Day with friends.
Looks like a “Who’s” feast a bit doesn’t it? My wife and I were blessed to be part of this long table of good friends hosted by the Scott Family. And thank you to Chris who got this shot from the upstairs balcony…hitting the button on the camera and then having 10 seconds to run down the stairs…sit down and get in the picture. Which he did!
I’m thinking that should be a “timed” Olympic event.
CHRISTMAS GIFT?
How about a bottle of Miller Bar Fume that they say smells like a dive bar? For that Happy Hour person on your Christmas list I suppose.
And who couldn’t use a couple of cans of this for Christmas?
And what kid wouldn’t be thrilled to get their own miniature cow to milk?
Wonder if anyone makes an Almond cow yet?
THE MARKET
Good time to be in the market these days apparently as the stock market broke yet another record yesterday soaring over 45,000 while Bitcoin went over $100,000. I still know nothing about how Bitcoin works, but I do know that I should have bought some a couple of years ago.
And you’d think by now you’d see a drop in housing prices…but no. In fact a real estate expert says to expect mortgage rates to stay high…as well as the price of buying a house.
With that…some parents may have grown kids moving back in
which is covered in the really funny song from my friend Brent Burns “Please Don’t Let That Kid Move Back Home”. Click on the link for this "live" performance of that funny song when both Brent and I shared the stage a couple of years ago in Huntsville, Alabama at the Jim Parker Songwriters Series.
SPEAKING OF MONEY
Cincinnati Bengal QB Joe Burrows just paid 2.9 million for a Batmobile. True. I have no idea if his house has Bat Cave or not.
Me? I’m saving up for one of these Flintstone specials.
HEADLINE OF THE DAY
Thieves Steal $30,000 Dollars Worth of Pies From 5-Star Chef. (Keep your eyes peeled for anyone with pie crumbs on their shirt.)
TODAY
A day off. So hopefully I’ll be making a trip to pick up my mended laptop…and I think it might be Christmas tree decorating day here at the Whyte House.
Have a great Thursday!
