BILL BLOG
Wednesday November 13, 2024
Back home in Nashville this morning. Just 64 for the high today in Nashville with some light rain in the mix.
YESTERDAY
I made the 7 and half hour drive back to Nashville with songwriters Steve Dean and Bill DiLuigi after a wonderful five days down in one of my favorite places…Gulf Shores, Alabama.
5 great shows this year with a combo of songwriters.
This was the 40th annual version of the longest running songwriter festival in the country and I’ve had the pleasure of playing a whole bunch of them. And the festival just keeps getting better and better.
Thank you to the festival organizers, sponsors and volunteers for your hard work. And to all the writers I shared a stage with over these past 5 days. Brent Burns, Steve Dean, Rhonda Hart, Wil Nance and Bobby Tomberlin.
I’m already looking forward to next November.
GOOD MUSIC NEWS
I got home to several bunches of good news music wise. First is the news that my friend Mark Houser’s new album “Gospel Train” will be released tomorrow.
I’m blessed to have a song on this project I wrote with Mark titled “Where You Choose To Go”. And tomorrow when it’s released it will be Mark’s birthday! I should be able to share this new song on the Blog here tomorrow.
WHERE YOU’LL FIND ME
And I also found this wonderful video of my friends Darin
& Brooke Aldridge sitting on a couch with another friend and co-writer
Kristen Leigh Bearfield singing a verse and a chorus of a song I wrote with
Kristen and our friend Lauren Mascitti titled “Where You’ll Find Me” that Darin & Brooke put on their latest CD "Talk of the Town". Listen to this great three part harmony on our song in the link provided.
SONG OF THE DAY
How about a beach song today? This one “Take Me There” is from my friend
Jessie Ritter down in Pensacola. We wrote this when she was in Nashville on a writing
trip a few years ago. Jesse does a lot of shows looking at the ocean while she’s
singing…not a bad life. And this is a “live” version of our song when she
performed it at the Flora-Bama a few years ago.
SHOW IN OHIO THIS WEEKEND
I only half un-packed my bag after getting home from Gulf Shores because I have to repack and leave Friday for a “Evening in the Round” show starring Linda Davis with Lang Scott and me for a Saturday evening show in Greenville, Ohio.
The concert takes place in this gorgeous theater…so we’re looking forward to entertaining folks there Saturday night.
And since we’re traveling to Ohio that means we’ll be making a Skyline Chili stop!
HEALTH NOTES
Walking pneumonia cases are surging in the United States right now, especially among children according to the CDC.
This is eye opening. A neuroscientist claims that about 1 in 5 otherwise healthy adults 50 or older have at least one organ aging at a very accelerated rate.
The CDC says the healthiest vegetable is watercress. It has vitamin A, C and B as well as calcium and potassium. And it’s low in calories and promotes heart health.
HERE’S YOUR SIGN
I’m going to stay off the diving board for sure!
HOUSING
The median price of a home these days is $424,950. That’s enough to make some people order tiny homes that they can unfold and put together like this A Frame ordered on Amazon for just $13,000.
Or this modern look modular for under $40,000.
When I played a show in Montrose, Colorado a few years ago the organizer pointed out a Sears & Roebuck Catalog home. Yep. Ordered through the catalog. Still standing today. We’ve come full circle it appears.
IT WAS RIGGED
John Krasinski the actor was just named the sexiest man alive by People Magazine. I thought for sure this was my year. I’m blaming a rigged ballot box and hanging chads.
DRUGS
Man…criminals can try so hard to be creative and still get caught. More than 31 million dollars’ worth of meth was found in peppers at the Texas-Mexico border. It never got to where it was going.
THINGS THAT HAVE DISAPPEARED IN OUR LIFETIME
I read a long list of those things…some made me nod my head in remembrance. TV repairmen, Elevator operators, Travel Agents, and this one I remember for sure. Gas station attendants.
I was one of those kids once. I worked at a one pump gas station and would run out, fill up the car, check the oil, and clean the windshield. It was about that same time in my young life that I got a guitar. The job went away…the guitar remains.
FUNNY TWEET
“Anywhere is walkable…if you’re broke enough”.
TODAY
A day to catch up after being gone…and getting re-set for the next road trip to Ohio this weekend.
Have a great Wednesday!
