Tuesday morning arises. And it’s going to be beautiful here today. Sunny with a high of 83.
YESTERDAY
It was back to songwriting yesterday with Kennedy Scott and Victoria Camp from the trio “Three Times A Lady”. And…I found out that Kennedy is 2 months pregnant with her first child and she’s over the moon about that as she should be. Congrats to her!
So I told them how I had written three baby songs with my cowboy buddy Paul Bogart and I played Kennedy & Victoria “Buckaroo Lullaby” that I had written with Paul when their first baby boy came along. And Victoria immediately said, “I want to write THAT kind of song!”
And so we went “cowgirl” yesterday and had great fun trying to capture some western images from the eyes of a cowgirl. Yep…I was the only cowboy in the room amigos. Great fun writing that one.
TODAY’S SONG
I’m choosing “Corn” which is a song I wrote one day with my Kentucky friend, and an original member of my “Hits & Grins” trio Lisa Shaffer.
We sat at her kitchen table and talked about growing up in the country and what the view looked like off our front porches. Lisa then pitched it to Darin and Brooke Aldridge who I did not know at the time. They recorded it and it’s been a long time staple in their shows.
And that opened the door for me to get to know two of my favorite folks who have now recorded 7 or 8 songs I’ve written with them or other folks. Thank you Lisa Shaffer.
HEALTH NOTES

According to the Journal of Travel Research traveling can delay the aging process and improve mental and physical health.

GRAPPLER
Check out this new technology Colorado Police are using to end car chases. They call it the “Grappler” Sort of like roping the wheels of the car trying to get away. Cowboy Up y’all.
HOW MUCH DO YOU LOVE YOUR JOB?
Statistics say that 15 people die every single day at work. Wow. I love what I do for a living so if I pass while singing “I’m Going Ugly Early” one night…I THINK I’m okay with that. Though I’d prefer not to die at all. Still have not figured out how to pull that off.
JUST PLAIN RUDE
A new study just listed the 5 rudest cities in the country. Most would have New York on the list I think…but no. Here’s their top 5.
Oakland, Louisville, Tampa, Philadelphia and the rudest according to them? Miami.
POLITICS
This might make you feel better about how ugly politics can be in the USA. In Brazil a mayoral candidate had to be hospitalized after a rival attacked him with a metal folding chair.
Mark Twain once said, “Politicians are a lot like diapers. They should be changed frequently, and for the same reasons.”
HEADS UP
They…whomever they is…is saying an asteroid the size of a stadium could get close to earth tomorrow. I’m putting one of these on…just in case.
GROCERIES
USA Today listed the top 10 grocery stores. Here’s the top 5.
The best is Hyvee followed by Fresh Market, Heinen’s, Stew Leonard’s and Gelsons.
I know…I THINK we have Fresh Markets in Nashville…but after that…none of the above.

TODAY
I’m online writing with Rick Lang this morning who’s album “Blue Collar Gospel”…Songs of Rick Lang continues to make a joyful noise on gospel bluegrass charts including the song we wrote together with Jerry Salley that became the title track of this great album sung by Jerry Salley & The Oak Ridge Boys. I’m sure we’ll spend a little time celebrating the success of that this morning before we rhyme any new words.
Have a great Tuesday!
