We’ve hit another hump day…it’s Wednesday. We will hit 82 for a high today in Nashville. Meanwhile, out west, temperatures could hit 117 degrees!
YESTERDAY
Kevin Williamson and I got together and finished up a song we had started a few months ago. A flat-out stone country song, a heartbreaker. Imagine that in country music!
We finished up in pretty short order, giving us time to catch up with each other’s lives. Kevin and his family band, “Williamson Branch,” have a busy summer ahead, and they play a lot of churches. He was telling me about his daughter, Melody, who plays guitar and fiddle, and her first little boy, named “Aiden,” who is Kevin’s first grandson.
Aiden, he says, is often stealing their shows, as he’s on stage with Melody WHILE she plays!
Now that’s family, y’all!
If you get a chance to see this family perform, by all means go. You’ll love them.
SONG OF THE DAY
A few years ago, Jeannie Kendall, formerly half of the duo “The Kendalls” with her Dad Royce, who passed several years ago, recorded a new album with her friend Roy Acuff Jr. I was blessed to have Jeannie record 4 songs that I helped write on that album. This is one of those, “I Love That Look On Your Face,” that I wrote with the great Jimmy Fortune and Sydni Perry.
HEALTH NOTES
A woman in France is critically ill with the Hantavirus. 11 people now have it.
A biochemist claims that those on a meat diet seem to be “the healthiest, and they’re able to reverse disease without drug therapy.”
Research shows that obesity does increase heart failure risk but weigh loss can reverse it.
HERE’S YOUR SIGN
They have obviously seen me play golf.
IDOL
Congrats to the latest American Idol, Hannah Harper.
Hard to imagine that this Mom of three won’t become a country music star in short order. She comes from a talented musical family that played a lot of bluegrass music. And her brother Dalton Harper is one to keep an eye out for as well, as he’s making some noise in Nashville. Check him out HERE.
SOMETHING YOU DON’T READ EVERY DAY
In Uganda, a supposed witch doctor summoned a swarm of bees to a courtroom. Uh huh.
I wonder if a nurse comes out when you have an appointment and says, “The witch doctor will see you now.” I wonder.
MATTRESS
Memorial Day is a couple of weeks away, but already, there are Memorial Day mattress sales. I’m not sure why there is a connection between Memorial Day and mattresses. I must have missed something. I might be tempted to buy the waffle mattress, though.
FUNNY
From the Babylon Bee…this headline:
“Goodyear Blimp Barely Recognizable After Going On Ozempic”
HOME SALES
Zillow claims that 1 in 3 of every American housing markets will see a decline in sales next year, with prices dropping. That’s 300 markets in all. We’ll see. I’m pretty sure Nashville will not be one of those, as tourism is still BOOMING here.
How much is it booming? 80 new hotels are coming. 80.
I think it’s because so many people want to come to Music City to ride one of these.
TIS THE SEASON
Summer Camps will break out soon. And there are some unusual ones to choose from.
Who wouldn’t want to go to the “Explosives Camp” in Missouri and blow things up?
There’s a Zombie summer camp you can attend where kids learn to fight the undead with Nerf blasters.
And, I might choose to go to Magic Camp, in hopes that I can make high gas prices disappear.
QUOTE OF THE DAY
From Woodrow Wilson:
"If you want to make enemies, try to change something.”
TODAY
Back creating with my young friend Angus Gill today. He is always into some new project, and it will be fun hearing what kind of project he’s into right now.
Have a great Wednesday!
