New Music...Memorial Highway...Disney Ain't Cheap

BILL BLOG

And here comes Tuesday with an 82-degree high on tap for today.

YESTERDAY

I got resettled in after the road trip to Illinois and reset for the week ahead. The highlight of my Monday was watching my Reds win another game last night. They’re on a roll right now, and it’s fun to watch.

COMING SOON

Country artist Katrina Burgouyne sent me a video of a song being recorded by her that the two of us wrote, “Take Me to Heaven”, and told me she’ll be releasing this song soon. She’s had a great response online when she throws up a tease of this song. Good news to a songwriter’s ears.

Here's a little TEASE of that song.

THE WEEKEND

One more thing about this past weekend’s Freedom Sings USA event in Anna, Illinois. I mentioned in this Blog a few days ago that the Gold Star Mom of Brian Romines was at our event…all three days. Her boy was killed in Iraq, the only one of 151 young men under the command of Art Fager who did not make it home. I wrote Art Fager’s story into the song “151” that was all about that event, and that young man. He’s buried in Anna, Illinois, where we were.

His mom, Melinda Clary, sent me the nicest note and offered to take me to see her boy next year when we come back. I’m going to take her up on that.

As we pulled out of Anna and headed back to Nashville, our group saw two of these signs on the road out.

I was moved all over again.

SONG OF THE DAY

Here’s a song that Darin and Brooke Aldridge recorded that I wrote with my friend Lisa Shaffer years ago, “Trying to Make Clocks SlowDown.” Jimmy Buffett dropped that line to a reporter interviewing him in reference to how fast his life was moving, how much he loved life, and his awareness of getting older.

HEALTH NOTES

A young woman, in her early 20’s, is fighting for her life. She has cancer from vaping. She’s been vaping since she was 15 years old. She is now issuing a warning to anyone else who vapes.

A study finds that brushing teeth could cut hospital pneumonia.

Get this. Healthy diets have sparked a lung cancer risk for non-smokers because of pesticides.

HERE’S YOUR SIGN

Some honesty on that bench.

NASHVILLE GROWING

And growing. More proof. It’s looking like Nashville will host the 2030 Super Bowl. A state-of-the-art stadium with a retractable roof is being built for the Tennessee Titans, and they will start playing games in this new stadium starting next year.

Yep, they spared no expense building it. And this town knows how to throw a part, so a Super Bowl here makes perfect sense.

TROUBLE WAKING UP?

Try getting an unusual alarm clock. Like this clown, perhaps.

Or, this fun Grandfather Clock.

And if this alarm clock doesn’t get you out of bed on time, nothing will.

THE MOST EXPENSIVE PLACE ON EARTH

That might be Disneyland and Disney World.

A one-day pass now costs $219 at Disney World. At Disneyland in California, even more. $224 daily. And if you want to buy that pass that lets you skip all the lines? That will cost you $500 per person, each day.

I love the parks. I did my radio show from Disney World multiple times. And I’m sure glad Disney paid the tab. I don’t know how a family could afford to go, but the parks are packed.

FUNNY HEADLINE

From the Babylon Bee folks.

Husband Gets Part-Time Job At Hobby Lobby To Spend More Time With His Wife.”

DON’T DO THIS

Billy Strings, the bluegrass superstar, finished his set at a concert recently in Virginia. Billy left the stage, planning on going back on stage for an encore. Before he did, though, he jumped on a skateboard backstage, fell off, and broke his leg. No encore, and he’s had to cancel some shows to recover. He did mention he’d been warned about the danger many times.

If you see a skateboard up for sale on eBay…it might be his.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

From Dolly Parton:

If you don’t like the road you’re walking, start paving another one.” (Yep...and don't forget to fix the potholes later!)

TODAY

Back to writing today with young country artist Spencer Hatcher and his brother Connor, who just proposed! I’ll be asking him some questions about that before we start rhyming!

Brady Seals will join us as well, and I’m betting Brady will also get in on THAT conversation.

Have a great Tuesday!
