Wednesday morning showed up. We’ll have an 83 degree high with sunshine today in Nashville.
YESTERDAY
I wrote a fun new song with Spencer & Connor Hatcher, along with Brady Seals.
This is the third time the three of us have collaborated, and this time, Spencer brought a funny country song idea, as he thought this grouping would be the right one to write this idea. I think he may have been right, considering the amount of laughter in the room as we were writing the song.
Spencer is stacking up songs for his first album at Quartz Hill Records. We’ll have to wait and see if this fun song is one of those selected for the project.
SHOW AHEAD
I’ll be in Shelbyville, Tennessee, next weekend with this great group of songwriters.
It’s going to be a very red, white, and blue weekend in Shelbyville. If you’re near, come join us.
SONG OF THE DAY
This is the first song I wrote with my fellow Missouri friend, Becky Denton.
A mutual friend from my hometown of Montgomery City asked me to consider writing with Becky, whom I did not know at the time. I said yes. And when Becky came to Nashville, and we sat down to write, I asked her to tell me which artists she loved. The immediate answer was Dolly Parton. And so we wrote, “I Love Dolly”.

New research suggests that excessive napping is associated with higher mortality risk in older adults.
War Secretary Pete Hegseth announced that US troops will no longer be forced to get a flu vaccine. That goes for COVID shots as well.
Researchers have confirmed what most of us already know. Diet and exercise can impact the biological aging process.

Yep, pickle lemonade. Kind of ruins a hot summer front-porch go-to drink for me. Maybe if I liked pickles, it would be a different story, but I don’t think so.

Now, there are a lot of funny beers available that I might try long before I would take one sip of pickle lemonade.
Or maybe a slice of this beer.
And then there’s this beer.
Yes, I would take a sip of “Buttface Beer” over pickle lemonade. Have I mentioned how I hate pickles?
HERE COMES THE EXPENSIVE BRIDE
The average cost of a wedding now is between $30,000 and $36,000 here in the US. Yikes.
Someone once said, “The only difference between marriage and stupidity is that marriage is expensive.”

I was sad to hear that the guitar player-songwriter-musician passed at the age of 79. He wrote the iconic rock song “Feelin’ Alright”, as well as one of my favorite all-time songs, “We Just Disagree.” Thanks for the great songs, Dave.
WAR
Proof that wars are being fought differently now. The Pentagon just ordered $54 billion worth of drones. That’s more than most countries’ entire military budget. Pretty easy to get a job if you know how to operate a drone.
