Easter Weekend...Song & Eggs...And Easter Song

BILL BLOG

Friday, April 3, 2026

Friday morning brings the first weekend of April with it. And, it’s Easter weekend as well.

We will hit 86 for a high today in Nashville, but on Easter Sunday, the high will only be 63 degrees.

YESTERDAY

I had a blast writing a new up-tempo bluegrass song with Brian White and Andrea Pearson. The kind of song they call a “barn burner.” We targeted a bluegrass artist I know who is looking for an up-tempo number to finish up a new album they are working on. We hope they like it. Time will tell.

I brought part of the new song with me, and Brian and Andrea loved it, jumped in, and we finished it. And then, before we left, Brian gave me and Andrea another dozen eggs apiece, as he did the first time the three of us wrote together.  He and his wife Karyn have a flock of chickens laying lots of eggs. Gosh, if I can just write enough with Brian, I’ll never have to buy eggs again!

So yesterday was a “bluegrass & eggs” kind of day.

NEW SONG ON THE WAY

Andrea has been in the studio a bunch lately, and she told me that she is about finished with what will be a Mother’s Day song that I wrote with her and Wil Nance. She will release it over Mother’s Day weekend, and as soon as it’s available, I’ll be sharing the song right here. I think Moms and daughters are going to love what the song says.

DAD BRAG

Just another dress my talented daughter put together.

Nope, don’t know how she does that.

SONG OF THE DAY

Since it’s Easter weekend, here’s something appropriate. This is a new song from the husband and wife team, Adam and Amy Pope, “Hallelujah Anyway.”

Adam brought in this idea and shared it with me at my publishing company one morning. I fell in love with the thought and the beautiful melody and helped him finish it. And now it’s out, and you can stream it or download it if you’d like. Yep, just in time for Easter. This song was produced by our mutual friend Darin Aldridge.

HEALTH NOTES

The EPA is making moves to designate microplastics as contaminants in drinking water.

Sadly, 46 children have died of measles in Bangladesh, with 684 confirmed cases of measles in that country.

Experts say that pollen season is here and getting longer every year. (And that’s something to sneeze about)

HERE’S YOUR SIGN

Just in time for Easter!

RETIRING

The publication Hoxton Wealth claims the top 5 places to retire based on affordability, lifestyle, and long-term security.

5…Panama

4…Portugal

3…Malta

2…Ireland

And the #1 choice for retirement is the island of Cyprus, Greece.

MOON SHOT

The Artemis II apparently fixed the onboard toilet problem they were having. Proof again that even in space, if you just “jiggle” the handle, you can fix anything.

SPEAKING OF SPACE

One of our Tennessee State Representatives, Tim Burchett, just said, “Americans would be up nights worrying if they knew the truth about alien life.”

Great. Now that he’s said that, I won’t be sleeping in fear that this guy will show up at my door asking to borrow a cup of sugar.

STARBUCKS

Baristas who work at Starbucks will be given a $1,200 if they move a little faster and if they’re a little friendlier.  Sales have slumped a little, so they are looking to fix that with faster service and a few more smiling employees.

I’d be happy if they didn’t require me to ask a Barista for the danged bathroom code!

BASKETBALL

Now, LeBron James has come out saying that the NBA Memphis Grizzlies should be moved here to Nashville, agreeing with ESPN sportscaster Stephen A Smith.

When Stephen A suggested the move, the CEO of the Memphis Chamber of Commerce replied in a tweet, “Fyou.” So, Memphis certainly doesn’t agree.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

Unknown:

If we’re not meant to have midnight snacks, why is there a light in the refrigerator?”

TODAY

I was supposed to be writing this morning with Alex Miller, but we found out that our publishing company will be closed today for Good Friday and Easter weekend. We both write for Billy Blue Publishing, a bluegrass company, but Daywind Records & Publishing is the umbrella company, and it’s the world’s largest source for Southern Gospel music. So, we’re closed, and will find another day to rhyme together.

Next Friday, Alex will release his new single, “Memories and Gin,” which we wrote together—looking forward to that. The single is being released from his new album.

Have a blessed Easter weekend.
