BILL BLOG

It’s Thursday morning, and I’m prepping for a songwriter show at the Bluebird Café later this evening. More on that at the end of today’s Blog.
Cold today in Nashville. A high of just 32. But tomorrow the temperature will rise to 56, and by Monday we’ll hit a 63-degree high. Bring it on.
95% of Nashvillians have had their power restored as of now from the ice storm that has left some folks without electricity for almost two weeks. And now we are finding out that there was a power surge from the electric company that damaged appliances, HVACs, washing machines, microwaves, etc.
There will be a lot of questions, about the management of this storm in the days to come.
YESTERDAY
I was online with my friend Tim Stafford yesterday, writing a new song to add to our growing catalog. Tim is over in Knoxville. Where lives accumulated over 12 inches of snow. We agreed that I had it much worse with the ice we had in Nashville instead of a foot of white stuff.
Tim is a member of the esteemed and award-winning bluegrass group Blue Highway. Those guys have made great music for a very long time, with Tim playing lead acoustic guitar, writing, and singing for the group.
But yesterday Tim told me that he’s going to record his first singing-solo record in a long time, and that two or three of the songs we’ve written together over the past several years will be on that project. So yes, I had a pretty good Wednesday at the Whyte House. Got a new song, and some of the old ones are going to be recorded by this wonderful artist, who is Tim Stafford. Awesome.
MUSICAL SURPRISE
I found this little video of my friends Adam and Amy Pope singing a bit of a song that Adam and I wrote a couple of years ago, titled “Tennessee Breeze,” that they posted on their socials. This song has been recorded by bluegrass artist Lori King, which will be released later this year. But hers is a very up-tempo version of this song.
Adam and I wrote the song as a waltz and converted it into an up-tempo version, so that it could be recorded either way, depending on artist’s preference.
Check out this WALTZ VERSION from Adam and Amy. And I do love both versions!
SONG OF THE DAY
Since I wrote with Tim Stafford yesterday, here’s a song that he and I co-wrote titled “This Is Where You Kiss Me”. This was born from a wedding song idea I had that Tim loved, and then later, Kristy Cox recorded the song. Good song to use at a wedding!
HEALTH NOTES
A longevity expert says people are going to live longer and believes some could live to be 150 years old someday. (Sign me up for that) The average life expectancy now is a little over 79 years.
Research shows that blood thinners are a leading cause of drug-related harm. Over 8 million are on blood thinner medication.
A new study suggests that our fitness and strength start to decline at the age of 35, regardless of our exercise habits.

Ouch.
SUPERBOWL COMMERCIALS
Check out the Pepsi COMMERCIAL we’ll see on TV this Sunday when the Patriots and Seahawks face off. Featuring the familiar Polar Bear we all know.
CARICATURE PICTURES
Those caricature pictures of people are everywhere on social media right now. Chatgpt creates those. I was curious. So here’s how you do that. You go to Chatgpt, and upload a photo. Then you instruct the AI platform to “create a caricature of me and my job based on everything you know about me.
Some are better than others. Here’s mine.
It doesn’t really look like me, and the biggest mistake it made was putting me under a Boston Red Sox baseball cap, and I’m a big Cincinnati Reds fan. Plus, I’ve never made that much in tips!
HARD TO BELIEVE
President’s Day is not until February 16. But already, I’m seeing a lot of mattress day sale offerings for that holiday. Remember, it’s the law. You HAVE to buy a mattress on President’s Day. Apparently.
PRETTY CITIES
Booking.com just released its list of prettiest cities in the US.
5…Waikoloa, Hawaii
4…Broken Bow, Oklahoma
3…Cape May, NJ
2…Palm Desert, CA
And their NUMBER ONE choice may be a surprise to most folks.
1….Fredericksburg, Texas
OLYMPICS
Opening Ceremonies are tomorrow in Italy, but the games have already started today. Curling is happening. Or, bowling on ice as I like to call it. I think it’s the only sport where you win a gold medal using a broom.
Speaking of the gold medal. With the price surge in gold over the past few years, a gold medal is now worth $2,300. A silver medal is valued at $1,400.
I think I’ll go out and buy myself a broom later today.
QUOTE OF THE DAY
From Willie Nelson:
“When I started counting my blessings, my entire life turned around.”
TODAY
It’s all about getting ready for the show tonight at the Bluebird Café in Nashville at 6 pm with three talented friends of mine. Brady Seals, formerly of Little Texas, Hot Apple Pie, and he was a solo major label recording artist.
Lauren Mascitti, a former American Idol girl, is one of the truly great country singers in this town.
And my longtime friend Victoria Venier, who is part of my “Hits & Grins” trio.

Looking forward to playing with these talented, great friends tonight.
Have a great Thursday!
