Indiana Trip...Make Up With Telluride...A Veteran's Song

BILL BLOG

Wednesday, February 11, 2026

Wednesday morning, a travel day ahead. More on that at the end of today’s Blog.

52 for the high in Nashville today, 42 will be the high in Greensburg, Indiana, where I’m headed today.

YESTERDAY

It was a pretty lazy day, but I got the packing and pre-work done for the road trip this morning. It’s going to get busier as the year progresses.

THE ROAD AHEAD

It’s going to be a busy 2026 as show dates are lining up. I’m in Indiana this weekend and will visit several states this year on tour. Mississippi, Illinois, Alabama, Florida, Kansas, Texas, New Mexico, and Tennessee are all lining up. Look for several new dates on my calendar soon at billwhytecomedy.com

MORE TELLURIDE

This is another very fun video of Caroline Owens doing her makeup and getting ready for a show while she sings part of her current single, “Telluride,” which I wrote with Andrea Pearson. Check THIS out.

OLYMPICS

I did watch some of the Olympics last night. One skater almost had a serious wardrobe malfunction while she was skating, but managed to save the day. I’m not sure how the judges score that if you lose your top while performing a quadruple whatever. I think every female skater should have a roll of duct tape handy in their bag…just in case.

And we have a very strong women’s hockey team again, as they obliterated their arch-rival Canada yesterday. Go USA.

SONG OF THE DAY

Since I’m writing with veterans the next couple of days, I’m choosing the song “Taters In A Sack” that I wrote with veteran John Side during a Freedom Sings USA retreat in Little Rock, Arkansas, back in 2021 or so. John was a big ole Missouri farm boy who could fix anything that moved and drive anything that moved.  We hit it off because I’m a Missouri boy myself. His mission in Vietnam was to get supplies to troops. And to do that, he had to drive like hell on a dangerous road full of explosives and folks shooting at him.

John was in a wheelchair when I wrote with. He stayed at the VA hospital full-time for treatment and care. We had the best time writing his story into a song that I performed in concert before him, and he was moved.

A few years later, John passed away. The head of the VA hospital called to tell me. And he shared with me that before John took his last breath on this earth, they held a phone up to his ear while he was in bed, and played him his song “Taters In A Sack” one last time. And he smiled.

God bless John Side and all of our veterans. Click the link above to hear John’s song.

HEALTH NOTES

A common medication for diabetes, metformin, may slow down age-related vision loss, according to a just released study.

Over 20 million Americans still suffer from long COVID symptoms. And researchers propose that long COVID may trigger changes in the brain that resemble the biological processes seen in diseases like Alzheimer’s.

The National Cancer Institute is using federal funds to study whether cancer can be cured by Ivermectin.

HERE’S YOUR SIGN

Duly noted.

SUPER BOWL NUMBERS

For the first time, there were fewer viewers than the year before. 124.73 million watched a pretty boring defensive game that the Seattle Seahawks won over New England. And the numbers were off for the halftime show with Bad Bunny as well. Word is that the odds-on favorite for next year’s halftime show is Miley Cyrus.

I’d watch that…as long as she brings her Godmother to sing with her.

VALENTINE

Uh…just three days guys. What ya gonna get her? I don’t know either. BUT…I’d suggest that if you’re going to bake her a heart-shaped cake? Don’t write these words on it.

UFO’s

At Montana Tech College, located in Butte, Montana, you can now enroll in a UFO class. Uh huh. For real.

I think I’ll wait until some college offers a class studying Bigfoot before I enroll.

MUSIC MONEY

If you have enough hits in your songwriting catalog, you can sell it for a lot of dollars. Ask Britney Spears, who just sold hers for 200 million.

I have GOT to start writing more incredible songs like “Oops…I Did It Again”!

HAPPY PICTURE

Spring Training baseball is set to begin in Arizona and Florida…under sunny skies. I’ve gone a few times out to Goodyear, Arizona, to watch the Reds play some Spring baseball. Nothing like it. You’re sitting in the sun, you’re close to the field…I highly suggest it if you’re a baseball fan at all.

Put me in, coach, I’m ready to play!

NOT GOOD

Toyota just recalled 141,000 Prius cars because the doors open while you’re driving. Just one more reason why a roll of duct tape is a good thing to have around.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

From Winston Churchill:

A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.

TODAY

Off to Greenburg, Indiana tonight, along with songwriters Steve Dean, Don Goodman, Bobby Tomberlin, Wil Nance, and Bill DiLuigi, where we will write songs with veterans. We have a little meet and greet with a mini concert this evening. Looking forward to it.

 Have a great Wednesday!
