And…it’s Thursday morning, boys and girls. And our temperature is going to reach 74 for a high today in Music City. We’ll take it.

YESTERDAY

I spent some time sending out invites for my wife Kathy’s first book signing, coming up next Saturday in Nashville. Her first book, “Subtle Frequency,” is online everywhere right now.

But next Saturday will be her first signing. So yesterday I sent some invitations, and going by the responses, I think we’re going to have a fun day with friends dropping by to get a signed copy. Pretty exciting.

I'll be there to make sure she spells her last name with a "Y".

WINTER OLYMPICS

One more day of resting, trying to kick the flu bug, so I caught more of the Winter Olympics from Italy, including an exciting hockey game between the USA and Sweden. The USA won 2-1 in overtime with some pretty exciting 3- 3 hockey with a heck of a finish.

I’ve never really gotten into hockey, and I’ve been around it a bit. For me, the “Miracle on Ice” is still the most exciting hockey match ever. And a lot of that has to do with the fact that the USA was playing a true amateur team against Russian pros. Now it’s mostly all pros playing. Big difference. But yesterday’s game? Not bad.

I also saw highly touted Mikaela Shiffrin win the gold for the USA in women’s slalom, and saw a dog follow a skier across the finish line. Only in the Olympics, folks.

Apparently, he did not medal.

SONG OF THE DAY

Lover’s Moon” is a song I wrote with Irene Kelley and Terry Herd, which Jeannie Kendall recorded with Carl Acuff Jr. One of four songs I helped write that went on their last album. Jeannie, of course, was half of the famous “The Kendalls” duet when her Dad Royce, was alive. They had some big hits like “Heaven’s Just A Sin Away”. The two of them are from my home state of Missouri, and they produced the only vinyl album that I recorded with my band years ago at the old Fireside Studios in Nashville that Porter & Dolly owned at the time. So we have some history.

Jeannie is still living in the Branson area and still sings up a storm. So it was a pleasure to have her record some of my tunes, like “Lovers Moon”.

HEALTH NOTES

A new study reveals that a group of individuals eating oatmeal for two days experienced a 10% reduction in bad cholesterol.

Another new study suggests that chicken may not be healthier than beef.

And yet another study suggests that abstaining from eating food for three hours before bedtime is beneficial for heart health.

SPEAKING OF SIGNS

NY Post columnist Cindy Adams claims you can find signs in NYC that read, “No Stopping, No Standing, No Parking, No Kidding.”

BEST CARS

Consumer Reports just listed their top 10 pick for 2026. Here are a few of their choices.

Small Car…Honda Civic

Midsize…Toyota Camry

Midsize SUV…Toyota Grand Highlander

Luxury Midsize SUV…BMW X5

Full Size Pickup…Ford F150

Surprisingly, this car did not make their list again this year.

FUNNY HEADLINE

From the folks at Babylon Bee again.

“Wife Asks For Husband’s Opinion So She Can Choose The Opposite Of Whatever He Says.” (Been there, lived that…how about you guys?)

TRAVELING

More Americans are thinking twice about traveling as prices are jumping to crazy levels at their favorite vacation places, as I mentioned in the Blog yesterday. However, river cruises are booming. Small river cruises like the Danube, Rhine, and others.

I’ve traveled a bit through the years, and it would be hard to list one favorite trip. But in my personal Top 5 would be the Rhine River Cruise my wife took along with our friend Brent Burns and a bunch of Parrot Heads several years ago.

Smaller boat, smooth sailing, great food, incredible port stops in France, Germany, and Amsterdam. Sitting on the top deck on sunny days and watching castle after castle float by is an incredible experience. I highly recommend it.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

From the late Yankee Manager, Casey Stengel: (straight out of the school of Yogi Berra)

“Alright, everyone, line up alphabetically according to your height.”

TODAY

Starting to feel a little better today. Hoping that lasts. A little more rest, a little more Olympic viewing this today with the USA-Canada Women’s Hockey Final on tap that is always exciting.

Have a great Thursday!
