Tuesday December 9, 2025
Tuesday morning, and I made it back home to Nashville. It will be 45 degrees high today in Nashville with some sunshine, and by Friday, we will hit 60. That won’t break my heart at all.
YESTERDAY
Our “Evening in the Round” trio woke up early in Waynesboro, Virginia, to check the weather report, as they were calling for 3-4 inches. Linda Davis, Lang Scott, and I debated whether to try and get home or stay an extra night in Virginia. After careful consideration and looking hard at the radar, Lang made a decision for us to try and get home.
It snowed for the first three hours or more on the road, but the picture you see above was about the worst it got. Kudos to the Virginia Department of Transportation, which did a great job of salting the roads the night before, giving us pretty much clear roads all the way to Bristol, Tennessee, where the snow ended.
My sister Vickie, who drove down from Newport News, decided to stay at the hotel in Waynesboro. And I’m hoping she will be able to get back home safely today for sure.
You can see that the two of us have mastered the art of shutting our eyes when someone takes a picture.
Once again, Linda Davis, Lang Scott, and I would like to thank the staff at the Wayne Theatre for their hard work, which made our Sunday night concert and our final “Evening in the Round” concert such a great success.
GOOD MUSIC NEWS
I got home last evening, just in time to get an excited text from a co-writer buddy to let me know that a song I wrote with him and two other writing buddies is going to be recorded by an artist many of you will know. I’ll wait to share his name after it’s actually recorded. You learn in this business that sometimes when they tell you that they are going to record your song, it doesn’t happen. But I feel pretty confident this one will land on this artist’s new album. So we are all quietly celebrating in Nashville!
SONG OF THE DAY
This is one of 4 songs that Jeannie Kendall (formerly of the Kendall’s duo) recorded on her last album with Carl Acuff Jr. This one is a duet titled “You Got Me” that they did such a great job with that I co-wrote with Gerald Smith and Janelle Arthur. Thank you, Jeannie.
HEALTH NOTES
A Norovirus infected over 100 passengers and crew on a German cruise ship. And it’s a month-long cruise.
A cheap, already available pill is being billed as the “Ozempic of alcohol” for its ability to reduce appetites for booze, much like Ozempic does. It’s called Naltrexone.
Scientists are saying drinking 3-4 cups of coffee a day can extend one’s life for 5 years.
HERE’S YOUR SIGN
It must be an acquired taste for some.
APPETIZERS
It’s getting more and more expensive to eat out, and I eat out quite a bit, because I’m on the road so much. It’s hard to miss how much more expensive menu items are these days.
A report is claiming that more and more of us will just order appetizers, and not a main entrée, when we do choose to eat out. And I get some dirty looks from the servers when I order off the children’s menu.
BEAR!
Lots of bears in Tennessee. And if you’re in Gatlinburg, they are really hard to miss. This one decided to join the Gatlinburg Christmas Parade this past weekend.
And he was not invited.
Good thing that Virginia raccoon didn’t show up. He would have drained all the moonshine stores in Gatlinburg.
DOH!
A not-so-bright guy accidentally sent some meth through one of those tubes at the drive-in part of his bank in Ohio.
Yep…he was arrested. And then of course, the police DEPOSITED him in jail.
POWERBALL
Worth 880 million right now. Just saying. That would let me buy a few more Christmas gifts. Unfortunately, this is what I always see when I check my numbers.
QUOTE OF THE DAY
From E.B. White:
“Prejudice is a great time saver. You can form opinions without having to get the facts.”
TODAY
It’s a day of recharging for me after being on the road for the last 4 days. And, I HAVE to finish my Christmas shopping! May the Christmas Gods be good to me.
Have a great Tuesday!
