New Year's Eve...More Book News...Happy Birthday To My Daughter

BILL BLOG

Wednesday December 31, 2025

Put on your cone-shaped hat and grab your noisemakers. It’s New Year’s Eve, Wednesday. A high of 50 in Nashville today. Cold tonight for those outside at the big New Year’s Eve bash in downtown Nashville. 31 degrees by the time they start singing Auld Lang Syne.

YESTERDAY

My last writing appointment for 2025 was with the talented Billy Blue recording artist Caroline Owens. And, we wrote a fun song yesterday.

Caroline has a brand-new album on the way out early next year that will have “Telluride” on it, the song I wrote with Andrea Pearson that is Caroline’s current single, which is getting a lot of airplay right on the Sirius XM Channel-Bluegrass Junction, and for that, we’re all grateful.

Her new album will be titled “Low Flying Planes”. Look for it!

SUBTLE FREQUENCY
My wife’s first book is available for pre-sales, and some are already buying their copy of Kathy’s first book. Her publishing company is Indigo River Publishing out of Pensacola, distributed by Simon & Schuster. Yesterday, they posted this.

Yep. It’s getting pretty exciting with the official release date coming up on February 3rd. Get ya one of these.

SONG OF THE DAY

Something different today. I’ve written a new song with Thomm Jutz that has yet to be recorded. But since it’s the last day of the year, and I’m looking back on it, I’m thankful for so many things. But I had one big thing in my life that I’m particularly grateful for. Prayers, a lot of prayers that came my way…that worked.

The song is titled “Gratitude”. And this is verse 2 in that song lyrically.

When I walk out the door every day, I find more

Blessings than I can count

So much good grace in so many ways

Waiting each day to be found

It’s a miracle to be alive

So I bow my head every night

But a million thank you would be short of the truth

They don’t make enough gratitude

HEALTH NOTES

A case of measles was detected at two US airports yesterday, Newark and Boston. With so many traveling right now, officials are warning that unvaccinated travelers are at risk.

Meanwhile, a record number of flu cases have been reported in New York.

Studies show creatine chews could boost memory by 29%, plus support muscle and recovery.

HERE’S YOUR SIGN

I’m thinking the place is closed. How about you?

MUSIC TO MY EARS

Major League Baseball is talking again about expansion, and adding two more teams sometime in the future. Yesterday, in an MLB article, three cities were named as the most likely for expansion.

Nashville, Portland, and Charlotte, with Nashville being the most likely!  C’mon!  Make my baseball day.

We’ve already got a name, “The Nashville Stars”.

And we already have a mock-up of what the stadium would look like.

We’re ready MLB.

I RESOLVE…

Some folks have already made their New Year’s Resolutions, which most will break tomorrow. Here’s a few of the funny ones.

Unfriend every person who shares their unsolicited diet or exercise regimen.

Stay in the bathroom while I brush my teeth.

Harness every bit of willpower I have to NOT hit the elevator button repeatedly in a futile attempt to make it go faster.

Live my best life and only buy pants with no buttons or zippers.

NO COUCH

Some folks are admitting that their therapist is ChatGPT. AI therapy. Cheaper, and you don’t have to lie down on a couch if you don’t want to, or wear any clothes for that matter.

Although I think if you do an AI therapy session with no clothes on, you’ll need to book another therapy session.

GOING UP

The USDA’s Economic Research Service has listed the 5 foods that are going to increase the most in 2026.

Beef, coffee, sugar, dairy, eggs, & candy will all cost more. Start cutting out coupons again.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

From ole Anonymous:

My New Year’s Resolution is to stop procrastinating. I’ll start on that tomorrow.

TODAY

It’s our daughter Heather's  birthday today. Best New Year’s Eve present ever. She and her husband are in Germany, and we’ll get her on the computer screen to wish her another happy birthday. And that’s my entire New Year’s Eve celebration party.

I’ll be asleep by the time they drop that MoonPie in Mobile at midnight.

Happy New Year’s Eve to you and yours!
