A New Bluebird Show...2026 Schedule...Bell Bottoms

BILL BLOG

Wednesday December 10, 2025

Another Hump Day has arrived…it’s Wednesday.

A little warmer in Nashville today, with a high of 56!  I’ll take it. Meanwhile, a lot of the country is bracing for a polar vortex to arrive. Yikes.

YESTERDAY

Well, I did get some Christmas shopping done! Woo hoo! That’s what I consider a productive day. I struggle with trying to find something that works for those I’m shopping for. I would be in favor of folks having an online Christmas registry, like brides do.

I’ve found myself in a 7-1l store on Christmas Eve, wondering if my wife would like a pack of Slim Jims for Christmas. That’s not good.

A NEW SHOW

I’m excited to add a date on the calendar for the iconic Bluebird Café here in Nashville. I’ll be there Thursday evening, February 5, with Brady Seals, Lauren Mascitti, and Victoria Venier in the round.

Tickets are very hard to get for Bluebird shows. So keep in mind, they go on sale one week before the show at 10 AM. And you do have to try and call instantly to have a chance. Every show sells out. I’m certainly looking forward to being back in that circle with some talented friends.

SPEAKING OF SHOWS

2026 is already shaping up to be a busy year. Here are the shows already locked in on the calendar.

January 26…Starstruck Farms with “Hits & Grins” for a 7 pm dinner show.

February 5…Bluebird Café, as mentioned above.

February 11 & 12…Greensburg, Indiana, with Freedom Sings USA…a private event writing with veterans.

March 6…Jim Parker Songwriter Series in Huntsville, Alabama, with “Hits & Grins”.

August 27…Mountain City, Tennessee, with Linda Davis and Lang Scott.

September 11…Biloxi, Mississippi at the Biloxi Set Music Festival with Brent Burns.

Complete details on all of these shows can be found in the “TOUR” section of my website here.

THE FRENCH FAMILY BAND

This was nice to find. This is Sonny French of the French Family Band singing just a bit of a new song, “Here Comes The Sun Again,” that I wrote him and our mutual friend, Angus Gill, which will be one of three songs I helped write for this family’s new CD out soon. That’s his Mom Camille, and Dad Stuie playing alongside him. So tickled to be part of this project.

 SONG OF THE DAY

How about another Christmas song?  This one is “Christmas at the Old Homeplace,” recorded by the award-winning bluegrass band Terry Baucom and the Dukes of Drive. Terry was regarded as one of the greatest 5-string banjo players, and passed away shortly after recording this Christmas album of theirs that has my song on it that I co-wrote with Rick Lang. This is actually Terry’s wife, Cindy, singing the “lead” on this Christmas song.

Cindy is also a noted bluegrass radio announcer. Thanks for recording the song Cindy!

HEALTH NOTES

A bizarre, sad story here. The CDC reported a man died of rabies, he contracted from a kidney donor who became infected while saving a kitten from a skunk.

The U.S Food and Drug Administration has issued a nationwide recall of more than 11,000 bottles of Ziac, a commonly prescribed blood-pressure medication, saying it’s contaminated.

Over 250 people have been quarantined in South Carolina after an outbreak of measles.

Rim shot please.

BELL BOTTOMS

Lainey Wilson made bell-bottoms a thing again. In fact, her bar in Nashville is named “Bottoms Up.”

And over the weekend, fans made some noise about Tim McGraw wearing bell-bottoms.

Before they get too proud of themselves, I would just like to pass along that I was WAY ahead of them.

Just saying.

POWERBALL

Now worth almost a BILLION bucks after no winner at the last drawing. I always buy my lotto ticket at this place.

Just in case I need to stock up on shells and Budweiser at the same time.

NO SOCIAL NETWORK

Australia has become the first country to ban the social network for anyone under the age of 16. Will other countries follow suit? There seems to be some support growing for that in several countries, including the US. No Facebook, no TikTok, “no life” according to some of the young folks. This one does not look happy about the decision.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

From actress Emma Thompson:

"The greatest glory isn’t in never falling, but in getting up every time we fall and eventually investing in better shoes.”

TODAY

I’m off to write with Rick Lang at my publishing company today who made the trip to Nashville from Maryland to write all week here in town.

Have a great Wednesday!
