2 Songs 1 Day...Santa's Gone NASCAR...Strange Vehicles

BILL BLOG

Thursday December 11, 2025

Thursday morning, be here, and it’s just 28 degrees at the start of today’s Blog. And come Sunday? The high will only be 23 with a low of 11.  I may have to move Nashville a little further south.

YESTERDAY

I managed to add two songs to my publishing catalog yesterday, as my co-writer from Maryland, Rick Lang, was in town and brought two ideas with him. One is a bluegrass gospel song, the other is a stone-cold traditional country song, the kind of stuff I like.

Rick is a prolific songwriter, and he’s one who ALWAYS has lots of ideas. It was fun writing two of those with him yesterday.

SONG OF THE DAY

Here’s another Christmas song that was written with Brent Burns,Santa’s Gone NASCAR" that Brent put on his Christmas album several years ago. This one is a little outdated as some of the NASCAR drivers mentioned in the song no longer race, but it’s still fun.

And a fan of Brent’s used our song to sync up with the Christmas lights on his house one year, aka, Clark Griswold. Pretty cool. Check out the VIDEO of that.

HEALTH NOTES

A study confirms that Sweden has developed a new diabetes drug that burns fat, controls blood sugar, and retains muscle mass.

Massachusetts health officials announced Tuesday that the state has confirmed its first case of an incurable lung disease linked to exposure to quartz countertops.

After claiming that COVID shots killed children, the FDA says it is also looking at other age groups.

HERE’S YOUR SIGN

Hey, Grinch, put up a billboard here in Nashville. We have the same problem!

ELF NAME

I went to an online site that will tell you what your Elf name is. Click HERE if you’d like to find yours.

Mine is “Nutty Jinglebox”. I’m not sure how happy I am about that.

NEW OPRY MEMBER

That would be Jelly Roll. Craig Morgan, on video, on the Joe Rogan podcast, extended the invitation. And he cried.

This ain’t your Roy Acuff, Minnie Pearl, Little Jimmy Dickens Grand Ole Opry anymore, y’all.

ADVERTISING

Some companies get creative when it comes to using vehicles to advertise their product. Like the folks at L.L Bean who designed this L.L. Bean Bootmobile.

Or…the folks at Hershey’s who came up with the “Kissmobile.”

When I lived in Decatur, Illinois, a dear friend, Bill Krekel, who owned “Krekel’s Custard stand drove around town in this to draw attention to his store.

I rode in it a few times with him, and of course, people always noticed. He’s long passed by now, but his place is still going. And if you ever get the chance, go buy and get a hamburger. To this day, his burger is the best I’ve ever had.

SPEAKING OF CARS

A car thief in Florida told the cops who pulled him over that he was “teleported” to the car. Uh huh. They teleported him to jail.

EXPENSIVE

It’s not your imagination. Christmas gifts are more expensive this year. 25% more expensive on average. The blame is being laid on the tariffs.

I’m browsing around the house, looking at items I don’t use or want that might make great Christmas gifts to send to those on my list.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

From William Arthur Ward:

The pessimist complains about the wind, the optimist expects it to change, and the realist adjusts the sails.

TODAY

My songwriting appointment for today was cancelled because one of my co-writers, Lauren Mascitti will be in a meeting that could change her musical life in a great way, and I am SO happy for her. Congrats Lauren!

So, my day has opened up for me to do whatever I want.

Have a great Thursday!
