No Internet...Grand Canyon Singer...More Cracker Barrel

BILL BLOG Friday August 22, 2025   Here comes the weekend. It’s Friday! 81 for a high today in Nashville, so a little cooler. And that’s welcome.   Meanwhile, Erin is ashore on the East Coast at a CAT 2. Flooding is the main issue with the Outer Banks of North Carolina, getting the worst of it. 80-foot waves might scare some of us…but not those who like to surf.   Yep…just a guy out having fun with Erin.   Some weather folks are describing the storm as “historical” as the storm was 500 miles wide. Wow. Considering it was once a Cat 5 hurricane so it surely could have been worse.   ISSUES I’m without internet and cable this morning…still! That’s because yesterday afternoon, a “too-tall” truck came down our road and snapped all the cable that was draped across the road up fairly high. My wife and I saw workers work all afternoon, into the night. We got word it would be fixed by 10:30 last night, but I woke up this morning and...

Writing and Baseball...National Radio Day...Jim Cantore

BILL BLOG Thursday August 21, 2025   Running a little late this Thursday morning. It will be hot today, and Lord, it was an oven yesterday in Nashville. We get a little relief today, with the high predicted to be 86.   Meanwhile, Hurricane Erin hit parts of the East Coast, bringing flooding and life-threatening rip currents with it.   YESTERDAY I got out of the oven and ducked inside air-conditioned Billy Blue Publishing and worked on a new, “swing” song with Alex Miller and Stuie French, both great guitar players.    Stuie, who had just gotten off the road playing with those “Gaither Family” stars, Brothers of the Heart , and was running a little late. But when he did arrive, he had a great idea that we tore into that will feature some great guitar playing. Young Alex Miller is all about those kinds of songs, so he jumped into the middle of it with both of his big Kentucky cowboy boots. There’s still work to be done before this on...

A Night Write...A Duet...A Little Baseball

BILL BLOG Wednesday August 20, 2025    Here comes that ole “Hump Day”. Wednesday y’all. Another hot one in Nashville today with a high of 93.   Meanwhile, Hurricane Erin has been downgraded to a Category 2 that will now hit parts of the East Coast. Still, it’s bringing massive waves with it that could lead to damage. And forecasters are watching two mover disturbances that are tucked behind Erin. Yep, it’s hurricane season for sure.   YESTERDAY After being on the road a bunch, playing shows, I noticed that my “go-to” Martin D18 guitar needed a little work. So, I made time to take it to my favorite guitar shop in town, where they fixed an issue I was having with it and restrung the guitar while it was there.   One of the great things about living in a music town is that there are so many talented singers and musicians here. AND…it also means we have some of the best guitar techs in the world that also reside in Music City. M...

Uncle Lenny's Two Shows...Powerball...Jeannie Seeley

BILL BLOG Tuesday August 19, 2025    It’s Tuesday…all day long. And it’s hot ALL day long. 97 for a high. And I refuse to look at the heat index for today. Meanwhile. Hurricane Erin is poised to come ashore on parts of the East Coast. Some parts of North Carolina have already evacuated. It’s at a Category 3 right now. They’re talking about extreme damage to the Outer Banks.   YESTERDAY EVENING Our Evening in the Round trio with Linda Davis , Lang Scott , and me played to two sold-out shows last night in the town of Fairview, Tennessee, about an hour from the house over on the west side of Nashville, in a small, intimate restaurant. Uncle Lenny’s is owned by some great friends of mine, Lynn Marie and her husband, Eddie Rodick …both great musicians themselves. It’s a small restaurant that they bought a little over a year ago, and folks have certainly found the place. Part of the reason is the great home cooking that they serve up there. My wife...
