Trop Rockin' Song...Pythagoras...Lots of Pizza

BILL BLOG Thursday October 31, 2024 Hello Halloween. October 31…last day of pumpkin month. 77 with a little light rain in Nashville today so the trick or treaters will need an orange umbrella tonight.   Meanwhile out west they have a winter storm warning out for 12 states with as much as 2 feet of snow predicted in some areas. Uh…no thanks.   YESTERDAY I wrote with Trop Rock artist Kirstie Kraus at my publishing company. Kirstie just won a couple of independent music awards back to back weeks so she’s on a bit of a music roll right now. We share a bit of a Wisconsin connection as she was born and raised there and I spent six years on the radio in Milwaukee at one point in my radio career. And we are both in the Trop Rock world some.   So yesterday we did the obvious thing and wrote another beach song for her to consider for her next album…and there’s always a next “beach” album coming in the Trop Rock world.   It’s always fun wri...

Irish Pub Writing...French Family Band...Weird Sculptures

BILL BLOG Wednesday October 30, 2024   The last Hump Day of October is here. It’s Halloween Eve. And it will be 82 with sunshine today in Music City.   YESTERDAY I wrote with Sean "Turk" McNamrara the owner of McNamara’s Irish Pub & Restaurant in Nashville yesterday and I invited Alex Miller to join us. That turned out to be a VERY fun pairing.   Sean is a talented songwriter-musician as well as the owner of the greatest Irish restaurant in Music City. The food AND the Guinness are hard to beat.   Alex got lost trying to find the place yesterday and arrived 15 minutes late and was upset with himself for joining our little party a tad late. However, he more than made up for that with the song idea he had titled “ I’m Lost” . And we turned that into a terrific gospel-bluegrass tune. We recorded over the equipment that Sean has set up in his upstairs room called “Turks” (his nickname) where he hosts songwriter nights once a month...

Two-Song Day...Trailer Park Sexy...Paddling Pumpkins

BILL BLOG Tuesday October 29, 2024   Tuesday has rolled in and we’re looking for sunshine and a high of 81 in Nashville today. Summer lingering doesn’t bother me a bit.   YESTERDAY I wrote a couple of songs with Alex Miller yesterday the former tall country kid from Kentucky who told me he’s now living in Nashville permanently which means I’ll be seeing more of him in the future. Alex and his band have been touring the country and just got back from playing Washington State and Oregon…his first time in that beautiful part of the country.     As often happens when the two of us sit down, he brought an idea and so did I so we wrote 2 new songs yesterday that went on the pile of songs we’ve co-written now the past few years. And he told me the song the two of us wrote with “The Voice” winner Emily Ann Roberts titled “More Country Than You” will be released on Billy Jam Records this January to be billed as Alex Miller featuring Emily Ann Rob...

Parrot Head Central...Upcoming Shows....Halloween

BILL BLOG Monday October 28, 2024 Monday morning and I’m back home in Nashville from Gulf Shores with an 80 degree sunny high today on tap. It’s almost as if I never left the beach.   THE WEEKEND Friday was my last day at this year’s “Meeting of the Minds” with all the Parrot Heads.   I had a noon time show on the big stage at the Hangout with my friend Kelly McGuire and his great band in front of a big crowd of Parrot Heads. He had a couple of my co-writers get up before me… Jessie Ritter being one of those who sang a couple of our co-writes which was very cool. Including the song “ My Favorite Color” .   And then this year’s Female Vocalist of the Year Aubrey Wollett was on stage with the band…and we are frequent co-writers as well. It was great seeing both of them play.   I had so much fun…and Kelly’s musicians are so talented. I closed with “ My Wife’sGonna Leave You ” which had a couple of Parrot Heads running to get t...
