A Voice Winner...A Radio Interview...Frank Brown Festival Schedule

BILL BLOG Friday August 30, 2024   Friday morning and we’re rolling into the very last of August this weekend. It’s staying hot. 98 for a high today.   YESTERDAY I wrote with Todd Tilghman the winner of the “Voice” as part of “Team Blake” during the 2020 season…yep…the year of COVID. And he won online because there was no “live” audience. Blake and the other judges that year watched him on their computers and he was crowned the winner while social distancing if you will.     Todd can sing almost any kind of music , but because he was a pastor for several years there’s always some gospel in his shows. And yesterday I brought him a gospel song idea with a bit of a “rock” edge that he loved…so we finished that thought together.   He’s working towards an album project with a major producer in the not too distant future. So we tried to add something to the pile of songs he’s been writing and collecting for consideration when it comes time to choosing which

Hot Weather Song...European Traveling...Writing With A Voice Winner

BILL BLOG Thursday August 29, 2024   Thursday morning…nearing the end of hot August with a 100 degree high in Music City today.   YESTERDAY It was so HOT yesterday. How hot?   Hot enough that I wrote a beach song with Aubrey Wollett & Wil Nance out at Wil's little farm.   Aubrey was in town from Tampa where she lives with her husband who’s a “tile” guy…so much so he’s in Portugal shopping for a certain type of tyle…I guess. That’s a long way from the linoleum floors I used to walk on growing up as a kid in Missouri.   Aubrey will be recording a new “beachy” EP come this December so we wrote an idea she brought out to Wil’s little farm into a reggae kind of number that was fun so hopefully this little “ukelele” kind of song might make the project. Time will tell of course.      She's also big in the Trop Rock genre, an award winning artist actually. And if I don’t see her sooner I’ll see her in mid-November at MOTM…”Meeting of the Minds”

Saturday Night Dinner Show...The Simpsons...Droning On

BILL BLOG Wednesday August 28, 2024   The last Hump Day of August has arrived…Wednesday…bringing more heat. 100 degrees here today. The answer to the old weather question, “Is it hot enough for you?” is a resounding YES.   YESTERDAY I had a bit of an off day for my Monday after a writing session was cancelled so I tried to take advantage of that and crossed some things off my “got behind” on list. Got a few done.   The road schedule ahead is going to get so busy that I’m trying to remind myself to just rest up and get ready when I do get an off day or two on the calendar   NEXT SHOW The first on is this Saturday evening at Starstruck Farm which was the old Reba McEntire property in Lebanon, Tennessee that’s been converted to an event center.   And her old horse stables have been converted into pretty cool rooms that one can rent for overnight stays.   I play there with my “Hits & Grins” trio that includes Steve Dean & Victoria Veni

40 Year Anniversary Party...Over The Rainbow...Amish

BILL BLOG Tuesday August 27, 2024 Tuesday morning and it’s going to feel like a sauna in Nashville. 98 here today.   YESTERDAY My wife Kathy and I got to be part of a surprise party last night to celebrate the 40 th anniversary of our dear friends Linda Davis & Lang Scott who I tour with quite a bit with our “ Evening in the Round ” show.   Their daughters Hillary & Riley went to great lengths to put together a very special evening for them, and all of us lucky enough to be invited to Jeff Ruby’s great steakhouse in downtown Nashville. And yes, I had a hot date for the gathering.   Each of their close friends and we as well got to speak from the heart about our love for them and their great family. It was memorable, and at times very moving as those in this circle all think the world of them and feel lucky to have them in our lives. And you can’t beat an evening that ends with a boot for dessert…all edible here folks.   The daughter
